building for c/p uslmra. I have been reading georges build on the MTD frame over and over. my frame looks a little different but thats ok. I want to make sure its still mine. not a copy. more fun that way.

What about the craftsman mowers? how are their frames? I dont have much info on it but I was told its about 12 years old..

REINFORCE IT SO IT'S RIGID BUT NOT TO HEAVY, LIMIT THE FLEX. THE BUILD RULES TELL YOU WIDTH,WHEELBASE,AND GROUND CLEARANCE.  ANY SOILD CHASSIE CAN BE A GOOD CHASSIE. LEARN FROM OTHERS LIKE GEORGES BUILD, AND SET IT UP FOR YOU. LEARN, BUILD, AND MOST OF ALL ENJOY! YES I WOULD BUID IT.

The Craftsman is a good chassis as well, it is a little heavier than the MTD . Either would work, but the MTD will be lighter when finished.

Everyone has their own opinion on which frame is better to build and that is a great thing because if everyone was exactly the same then it wouldn't be as much fun.  In my opinion I love the mtd frames like cub cadet and troy bilt.  Yeah they are heavier than others but in the bigger classes that also means more traction.  BUT a free mower is the best one to build lol.

I agree free is always better. The craftsman was free. I bought the MTD for the yard but by the way things are going I'll be having to mow the grass with the push mower this year again! haha

this mower stuff is addicting!!

The Craftsman is a great to start with, that is what I have and I am ready to build one for the wife. As far as being heavier that is not a big deal. My chassis handles above amazing and is easy to adjust for the track changes I have it dailed in and just change the air pressure. I am having more problems find the right motor to run the chassis is so glued I need more power to pull up out of a corner even with carrying the left front like a good handling chassis should. But that just the learning curve for mower and driver.

Thanks bob!

I was happy when I found out how close you are to me. I found another guy in Oakdale that finished his build in october. He built for the class I am and with almost the same mower. I'm not sure if he has been racing with you guys but as soon as I get mine ready to go I will be there.

I plan on calling you for parts so I will be taking you up on that!
