You may have a SATA drive, or ATA, and the connector is different.

I have done a search on the internet no solid answers. I formatted  the HD finished, or so i thought, removed disc when comp was rebooting ( thought that was what was indicated) wont do anything now   computers kill me on this level. can't figure whats next can't figure out how to start over. Seems like it was trying but now I have blank screen now for at least half an hour.

Not looking to hi jack but is there an easy way to simply image a hard drive without reinstalling everything? I have a XP laptop with hard drive issues and need to replace it. To start from scratch will be a 10 hour endeavor. Also do it on the cheap (free) lol. I know Norton ghost will do it but costs $$ I don't want to spend.
