govenor question
« on: January 02, 2011, 06:06:24 pm »
i was using a 12.5 b&s engine on my modified mower (IMOW) if i was to take the governor off (external and internal) and made a stop under the pedal so as it dont push over 3650 would that give more push and acceleration off the corners?

It normally doesnt work well like that. RPM's varied too much. We had one in our club that did that.

No it will give you less power out of the corner. That is the governors job to keep it right at 3650. A throttle stop will allow the engine to go below 3650 coming out of the corner, thus making it bog down.
Go mow your yard and watch the throttle shaft on the carburetor when you get in thick grass. That is what the Governor does coming out of a corner.
