I can't seem to get a throttle lever/bike brake lever to fit my Steering wheel. I have cut the cover off the wheel ground out the lever as much as I can and still can't get it to fit. Is their a certain size lever that works better than others. My steering wheel core is about an inch in diameter and the brake lever (dirty harry style) seems to fit a 3/4 inch diameter. What am i doing wrong

I had to use a slightly longer screw that goes thru the clamp. Mine is not special just got it off a bicycle I found. I have big hands so it's just right for my grip.

You can also grind the inside of the bracket on the lever.
Some of the older version of that lever were 7/8".

I just reread that you have a 1 inch wheel. That is prolly
going to be too much to grind out and possibly weaken it.
A little grinding, and a longer bolt may do the trick.

I put my 3/4" lever on a 1" wheel by crimping the area where it goes. Not a lot on any one part but a little on four opposite sides will do it and still keep the strength.

I put three 1/4 lock washers in the clamp and bolt it tight on them put it in a mill and run a 1" rounded end mill thru it remove screws and lock washers and now it wiill fit. Older ones were big enough and came with reduction sleeves, new ones are not.

All,

I went to EBAY typed in Odyssey Right Modulever BMX.  The sellers is Alflairdo and he sells a very durable lever that can be used on either a 7/8 or 1 inch steering wheel.  I bought right side only.  Just trim the edges a little with a file and you are good to go.  I bought 5 delivered to the house for $9.00 each.  Comes with all the cable fittings.  Make sure it will fit the 1 inch steering wheel.

Any questions: swilder1959@yahoo.com

MudMan, thats good to know.  This past Saturday I spent about an hour or better fitting my Dirt Harry lever to a 1" wheel.  After alot of sanding with a Dremel tool I remembered my spindle sander that is collecting dust under the bench.  Its sure is handy having special tools like that.  Too bad I can't remember them! roll

MIne is pretty jerry-rigged but its worked for 3 years so far. All I did was attach the lever to the wheel with a stainless hose clamp. I then wrapped it around the rough edges with electrical tape. No- it isn't going to win any beauty contests but it has held up just fine.

I purchased and receieved the odyssey modulever and it is the same as the one I have it fits the 3/4" bar not the 1" the description said 7/8" or 1" but thats not what I got. Going to try and make a swedge to fit the hydraulic press and swedge the steering wheel down so it will fit. if that dont work will probably try the hose clamp.
