I make my own spindles, also, but I don't think it's a good idea to weld the end of the sleeve (the end closest to the threads) to the bolt. Weld the bolt to the kingpin housing, slide the sleeve on and weld it to the kingpin housing, but not to the spindle bolt, and then weld the brace to the sleeve and the kingpin housing.
Whenever you weld around the spindle bolt at the end of the sleeve towards the threads, you weaken the spindle bolt.

Supermod,

Buddy, you've inspired me.  Thank you for your efforts in this thread!  I'm looking for parts...   smile

a)
If you could change a few things, for the sake of ease of build, what would they be?  Even if it made the kart in-eligible for your rules?  As in, what part of the build do you find to be the most complicated, and could that be improved? what would make the build easier and even more fun?

b) are you aware of any similar build threads from within your group?  even if not here?

c) where could a guy source a set of rules that might explain things like size of the body work, etc? to get the correct look that you guys have going on!

d)  I see most are running the steering column behind the engine, not over.  is it a rules deal, how it has to be for fitment, or a personal preference?

Totally appreciate your time, Thanks,  bigsmile

have to agree with Jim on this, weld the sleeve to the spindle barrell, but dont weld the sleeve to the spindle....also if you dont weld, it leaves a nice register for the hub to fit against...
