I have a peerless 700 transmission. Its a fresh build, I just took the first ride on it today. But it has a loud whine. Is this normal or what? Its only powered by a little stock 28ci flatty

Another thing I forgot to mention was with the centrifugal clutch you will have the liberty to change the springs so they will engage when you want. Comet clutches I believe have the best clutches and variety of springs

I have seen it done both ways. But that is one of those things that is completely up to you. I personally like the traditional belt but sometimes the centrifugal clutch is a whole lot simpler... This is like the first one that pops up on eBay just to give you an idea.   http://m.ebay.com/itm/151010999945?nav=SEARCH

Yes they do make them but I cant recall the name of them, its hard to find the clutch that can withstand over 13hp but you have a 12 so you should be fine. I bought one of those clutches though but I think I found mine on eBay for around $120
10  Engine Help / Briggs Flathead / Re: mow better timing on: May 09, 2014, 09:07:46 PM
As far as flywheel hubs go, the key is just an indexing tool.  It's the taper of the outside of the crankshaft and the inside of the flywheel hub that actually grip each other (Which is why it's so important to lap the hub to the crank).

So think of it this way--cut a flywheel key in half, long-ways. now put it back together, but one half offset to the other, meaning you aren't quite lining up the pieces.  The offset key works the same, but is more accurate.

Don't know if that makes sense, but there you have it.
.

yes this makes complete sense. Appreciate it guys

Ok I found them on ec. But how exactly does it work?
12  Engine Help / Briggs Flathead / mow better timing on: May 07, 2014, 08:58:50 PM
I got a stock model 28 flathead. Is there anyway to advance the timing or anything? Maybe for a little more bottom end. Just trying to get some info if you guys can help
13  General / Coffee Shop / Re: foot throttle on: May 01, 2014, 09:32:37 PM
Yea that's what made me think about this. It seems like there would be a awful lot of bouncing and with a foot throttle could have less control than a hand throttle. And another thing I thought of wouldn't you lean to the left more? Seems like a pedal would just be a little awkward. But I don't know I'm just thinking out loud I'm just askin for opinions for future knowledge

I dont really know where to put this topic so coffee shop seems good. But where do you guys get your foot throttles from? Or should I go with the dirty Harry style of hand throttle?

Haha those are all pretty funny. But if the mower ends up as obnoxious as Kim kardasian then I might as well sale it now. Between the news and magazine covers I see that name enough haha
