1  Race and Event Announcements / ARMA Races / Speed Pass on: July 10, 2014, 03:40:25 PM
We are pleased to announce the introduction of the ARMA Speed Pass.  This pre-registration system will permit drivers to move through the race day paperwork much more quickly.  By submitting information ahead of time all a driver will need to do upon arrival is sign the insurance waiver and pull numbers for starting position.  All print forms of their name, number, hometown, awards, etc. on both the grids and waiver will already be filled out for them.  And, a special treat will be waiting for them at the registration table.  The Speed Pass system can be utilized for the upcoming races at New River Valley Fair in Dublin, VA and Carroll County 4-H and FFA Fair in Westminster, MD.  The link for each Speed Pass is located below the information for each race.  Feel free to email any comments, suggestions or questions you may have.

Thanks!

2  Race and Event Announcements / ARMA Races / Racer Help Needed!!! on: July 02, 2014, 06:06:46 PM
A local community in New York is holding an Independence Day festival with a purpose this weekend.  The town of Cincinnatus, NY is holding its Fireman's Field Days to raise much needed funds for equipment.  Part of the events will include a lawnmower race on Sunday.  All drivers are invited to attend and support this great cause.  Those of you who raced at the triple header in Pennsylvania heard some preliminary details this past weekend.  Below is some additional information.  There is still room in the trailer for those that might want to "travel light".

3  Race and Event Announcements / ARMA Races / Re: Triple Header Weekend June 27th - 29th on: June 30, 2014, 10:41:14 AM
Wow!  What a weekend!  Three stellar tracks, fast racing action and fun times with friends new and "old".   Wink A HUGE thank you goes out again to the leaders and staff of all three tracks.  We know the hard work, time and dedication it took to pull this event off so smoothly.  I hope you all had a well deserved rest last night and are able to relax and recover a bit today.

For those of us who were "just racers" this weekend, it was an excellent opportunity to shake down some machines that hadn't had much track time yet this year, dial in some that had and get a feel for two tracks that will be part of our landmark back to back double header weekends in September.  Please note that there has been a "track swap" for those weekends.  September 13th will feature Wiconisco Speedway, followed by a September 14th visit to The Great York Fair.  On September 20th we will visit Gratz Fair, followed by a September 21st visit to Middle Road Speedway.  Additional details will be posted at a later date.

Thank you again to everyone who made this weekend possible!  We really enjoyed it!!  Can't wait to get out there and do it again!!

For those who are interested we will be able to rough camp at the speedway Saturday night.  I believe that we are going to try to do so.  We are considering a pot luck supper and a special "field trip" perhaps.  Contact me and let me know if you will be staying Saturday night in preparation for Sunday's race.  I will be coordinating with the speedway.  stmowtivator@gmail.com (note new email address)  Looking forward to seeing everyone Sunday!! smile

Alright racers- there is an excellent opportunity coming this weekend that will allow you to combine the two things so many of you love....racing and helping others!  May 25 lawnmower racing will be the featured sport of Race for a Cure weekend at Georgetown Speedway.  We will be racing on the smaller prepared track that is inside of the half mile "big oval".  Racing of all types will fill the days and nights in support of Juvenile Diabetes research.  Come out and join us as we race to end a disease that is changing the childhood of too many young people in this country.  Details for the event are below.  Feel free to email with any questions you may have.  See you at the track!

Rt. 113 and Speedway Rd.

6  Race and Event Announcements / ARMA Races / Hog Wild New England Nationals Weekend Reschedule on: May 14, 2014, 07:13:44 PM
Mother Nature has dealt a less than favorable hand to us for this upcoming weekend.  Not only rain, but potential flooding of the venue due to its location near the water.  While mud would make for some great racing in some of the events scheduled, it would definitely negatively impact our lawnmower racing.  After consultations with our venue hosts it was decided that we would cancel this weekend's racing action.  It is our hope that by doing so we will prevent racers from wasting time, money, gas, etc. to travel great distances for this event.

Plans are in the works for a rescheduled event.  We are looking to potentially hold this weekend's race dates on July 19th and 20th.  Additional details will be posted as the rescheduled event draws closer.

Feel free to contact me with any questions you may have.

7  Race and Event Announcements / ARMA Races / Re: Ft. Myers, FL April 26th & 27th Event Details on: May 04, 2014, 08:37:40 PM
Well, just fished the last pair of dirty shorts out of the trailer- that must mean our weekend of fun in the sun in Florida is officially over! Sad  Glad to be home but sad to leave such a wonderful place!  We knew we were going to spend time with some great people, but we never could have dreamed that the facility would be as spectacular as it was!!  The Grasscar racers have gone above and beyond in creating a magnificent track, spectator, pit and tech areas.  Not to mention the lovely scoring tower!  All of the Grasscar staff gave 110% to prepare for this event and ensure that the weekend went smoothly.  We thoroughly enjoyed our time with them!! THANK YOU!  THANK YOU!  Conversations have been flying back and forth since we returned and some intriguing suggestions have been made for an even bigger event next year.  Stay tuned for more info- and be sure that when you pack those mowers away at the end of the year you tuck them away all tuned in and ready to travel down south and escape the winter woes in 2015!!

Hey!  Can any of you southern guys or gals explain something I saw on the weather report for Ft. Myers this weekend?  There was this picture of a large, round, yellowy thing along with these really big numbers for temperatures .  We haven't seen anything like that on our weather reports this year and I just wanted to see what it meant!   Wink Wink Wink Looks like a great weekend is in store!!

11  Race and Event Announcements / ARMA Races / ARMA Board of Directors Annual Meeting on: November 30, 2013, 06:40:11 PM
Every year the ARMA Board of Directors meets to review the season, receive updates on events for the following year, and discuss rule and procedure changes.  Every effort is made to solicit suggestions from ARMA racers since we believe that our racers are the driving force behind the success of this organization.  A preliminary agenda has been compiled utilizing the input provided by racers at the season ending finals.  ARMA racers who were unable to attend finals and wish to submit suggestions or items for the agenda should email me at the address below.   Feel free to email any questions as well.  Any submissions need to be received prior to the December 14th meeting.

If you emailed me at any point over the past month or so and did not receive a response, feel free to send it to me again.  A glitch with my phone streaming resulted in some emails getting "misdirected".  I believe I have responded to all of those messages, but I want to be sure I did not miss any.

Thanks!

12  General / Coffee Shop / Re: Push-Pull Steering? on: October 18, 2013, 04:41:06 PM
I would like to know how it works, when used on a machine that has the steering column at the same angle it was from the factory, as the one pictured looks to be on a column that is straight up and down...illegal unless that is the original angle. seems like at the correct angle, it would be really angled.

ARMA's rules do not specify that the steering column remain at the factory angle, therefore the mowers mentioned are NOT illegal.

Lester- Who is bringing the mower down for you? Sounds like an interesting project.  Sorry to hear about Thomas' motorcycle accident.

Thinking about making the Friday race but I get off work at 5 in wadesboro nc so I probably wouldn't get there until 6 or 6:15 would that be 2 late or not?
It looks like you will be arriving just as everything is getting ready to wrap up for the driver's meeting.  We will do our best to take care of you, and anyone else who is cutting it close on time.  But, as they say, the show must go on.  We do have a lot to get in and a tight schedule to work with.

Just a few more days!!!  woo woo woo

15  Race and Event Announcements / ARMA Races / Points, Shelby NC Info and Updates on: September 27, 2013, 05:51:22 AM
There were slight changes to some points as errors were brought to my attention.  The spreadsheets have been adjusted, so please look them over.  There will be NO changes made to the points once they are finalized after this weekend's event in Shelby, NC.  I will post a cut off date for correction once I update the points following Shelby.

We have been in contact with Shelby several times, as their fair management has changed and there have been some issues getting correct information concerning race times.  Below is the most up-to-date information we have.  I will be unable to attend due to a county level evaluation team visit on Monday.  I hope everyone races safe and has fun!  I know many are traveling to try to make some last minute advances to their points!  Wink
