1  Mower Building / Setup Help / Driveline / Re: Dedicated 820 Peerless Racing Transaxle on: November 19, 2014, 06:53:26 PM
Although I prefer the 700's over the 820's and have ran both. Only because parts are readily available for the 700's and seems to be the up to date way to go. A fellow racer with us has ran a 820 with an 017 kit for 7 or 8 years with minimal maintenance and is running into the B/P class and has been either track or points champ for the same lengths of time. If the 820's and the 017 kits were readily available and at a comparable price, it would be on 4 out of 5 of my mowers. Oh and ROLL TIDE!!!

On a Tecumseh single can you drill the two rear mounting holes all the way through and use a nut and bolt? I'm having trouble keeping it secured.
4  Engine Help / Tecumseh Engines / Re: 17.5 missing on: June 26, 2014, 06:50:11 AM
I'm fairly new at this and there are no adjustments on a Tecumseh carb. How would I deliver more fuel to it. Bigger jet?
5  Engine Help / Tecumseh Engines / Re: 17.5 missing on: June 25, 2014, 10:10:16 PM
Carb is clean as a whistle
new fuel pump
new plug and correct gap.  Also maybe running a little lean looking at the plug
unsure of cht since my lead broke
it doesnt fall on its face at all. Just a momentary hiccup every now and again.
6  Engine Help / Tecumseh Engines / 17.5 missing on: June 25, 2014, 09:17:15 PM
I have a well built 17.5 and I have noticed that it has a small miss between 5-6k rpm. Any ideas on what this could be?

In the fall go to local high schools and have a show and tell with the shop class. Have them build some mowers.
Also ask the retirees to either donate or sponsor another driver with their mowers.

For all of you who have had problems buying items on here or anywhere else, I just wanted to take a second and say that Larry is a stand up guy. I recently purchased a Digatron tach from him  on here for a good price. Larry shipped it very quickly and when received, it was in better shape than described by Larry. Have no fear from ever purchasing anything from him.  Thanks again Larry.

Speaking of a Mikuni fuel pump on a Tecumseh single with crank case pulse, what would make the fuel pump stop working?
11  Engine Help / Briggs OHV & Vanguard / Re: vanguard options on: October 02, 2013, 06:43:13 PM
So the 16 is just gonna come up too short.  I was afraid of that. Maybe I will be able to find something else. Thank you for the input

We races under uslmra rules and it would be in a B/P class. I know bigger is better but the 30 ci is what I got.

I have found  a stock 16 hp vanny. I plan on buying a billet flywheel. Dual springs ec roller rockersand and a ec carb. What else can or should do to create a masterpiece?

What gear do you run in? He runs it in 4th.
15  Mower Building / Setup Help / Driveline / set up on: September 01, 2013, 04:13:12 PM
I'm needing some advice on my sons mower.  We run on a track that has 150ft. Straight aways and his set up is a stock motor with a 7 inch pulley going to a 4 inch on a 700 tranny with 13 tooth sprocket to 48 tooth sprocket on rearend. His rear tires are 16-7.50x8. When he comes out of a corner it takes him all of the straight away to build his rpm's to 4100 range. I need a little lower gear. Would using a 14 tooth on the tranny fix this issue, or any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. He constantly finishes 2nd or 3rd out of 6 to 8 mowers.  We need a little more.
