1  For Sale / Mowers or Complete Setups / Bertrand Hydraulics BP/Supersportsman Mowers on: November 29, 2015, 01:16:29 PM
It's maybe time to get out. Selling my #1 and #2 mowers complete. These mowers finished first and second at River Bottom Raceway on Labor Day Saturday. Both have been Wisconsin state champions, and both are ready to rock and roll. They'd look great under somebody's Christmas tree!

MTD tunnel chassis
LF and RF weight jackers
MPC rear brakes with Bertrand billet brake hats
820-017 transaxles with Bertrand jack shaft assy's
40" track
Odyssey PC680 Batteries
6" Turfmaster front tires
8" Turmaster rear tires

Isky cams with Bertrand custom grind
Ferrea Stainless valves
Echols roller rocker arms
Modified carbs
ARC wheels and rods
66/LPH fuel pumps
2 into 1 stainless headers

The engine in the #1 has more internal mod than the #2 engine, but that's all top secret stuff. Both will show 50hp + on the dyno.

Lots of spares, including 2 brand new stock, never been fired engines, mounted tires, belts, pulleys, tin, and 1 spare 820-017.

You'd spend $10,000 replicating this equipment.

Maybe Ed can get some pix up here in the next few days.

PM me for more info and with offers on one or both.

2  For Sale / Mowers or Complete Setups / BP/Supersportsman for Sale on: September 13, 2015, 07:39:07 PM

I'm selling this for a friend. Make an offer for this complete MTD chassis with an almost new Tecumseh 691 TVT.

Built by me in 2007. Near clone to my current chassis as driven by Ed King and Troy Werachowski.
 MTD tunnel style.
Hegar front brakes with dual MPC master cylinders.
MPC rear brake with Bertrand brake hat.
820-017 transaxle (can't get these anywhere, kids)
 Odyssey PC 680 battery
 Bertrand all-aluminum jack shaft
16-7.50X8 Turf Pro tires on rear, 13-6.50x6Turf Masters on the front
 High end Digitron tach
Paint sucks, but paint doesn't make them go

New engine built by me in 2011. 4 races since new.
 ARC wheel and rods
 Isky #4 grind
 Echols roller rocker arms
Dual exhaust pipes. Should be replaced with a 2 into one set up
I don't build customer stuff anymore. This is the only way you can get one.

 820-017 (needs shift keys)
 Stock used 820
3 16-7.50x8 Turf Master tires mounted on Douglas rims
 Near stock complete Tecumseh TVT691.
Belts, pulleys, set up discs, sheet metal, grille and too much more to list.

This mower needs a rear bumper and then it's ready to race. PM me for more info.

3  General / Coffee Shop / Memorabilia Sale on: June 04, 2015, 09:54:48 AM
With a heavy heart, Ed has decided to sell his Bruce Jenner memorabilia collection.  The items include several Bruce Jenner Wheaties boxes, some if which are half eaten. Also includedis the box CD set of the TV show "I'm a Star. Get Me Ought of Here", starring Bruce Jenner. Last but not least is a Jim Carey style wig from the movie "Dumb and Dumber", which is the closest thing Ed could find replicating the famous Jenner "do".

He us NOT selling his Kim Kardashian bean-bag chair.

Ed's newest best friend is Poindexter F. M. McBean. Really.

Badger State Brothers of the Blade season opener on the ice.

6  General / Coffee Shop / Locked Again?? on: September 06, 2013, 07:34:39 PM
Dang it, Ed called me today to advise of some psycho in the oppy section. Having read all the posts, I'm with Paul. Who are you, dude. Do you live in your parents basement and collect Star Trek memorabilia?

I've been at this since 1991. Been to lots of USLMRA finals, and I don't recall seeing any black #21 machines.

I just hate it when the wanna-be's come out of the basement, get on their parents' computer to post a bunch of tripe.

Don't care who you are, dude, most of the people I've raced with always sign with a name.

7  General / Coffee Shop / Mel Mieves on: March 25, 2013, 07:04:45 PM
Long-time mower racing gad-about Mel Mieves passed away at his home in Phillips, Wisconsin this past Saturday from complications arising out of his long fight with diabetes.

Mel built many successful pulling, racing and ice-drag mowers over the years, and was always willing to offer advice to anyone asking. Perhaps Mel's biggest accomplishment was his input in the design and build of a 12hp flat head successfully raced by Troy Larson to a national SP championship.

R.I.P., our friend.

8  General / Coffee Shop / Ed's Been Banned on: January 24, 2013, 07:14:45 PM
No, Ed hasn't been banned on this site. But I coulda sworn that his likeness showed up with all the "assault rifles" Senator Feinstein had on display in D.C. today.

I will give up my little Eddie only when someone pries my cold, dead fingers from his neck.

9  General / Coffee Shop / Coffee Shop?? on: June 21, 2012, 06:45:35 PM
OK, been on this site for years now, and I always go to the "coffee shop" first. I have yet to see any coffee. Haven't seen a waitress, either.

What gives?

10  General / Coffee Shop / To Cheer Al Up on: December 21, 2011, 06:55:02 PM
I got a Chia Rooster from St. Nick. I carefully followed the directions, soaking the rooster thoroughly and then applied the chia "seeds" over the entire clay figurine. After diligent attention, sprouts appeared on the sides and butt of the rooster, but nothing was growing on top.

Are all roosters bald like this??

11  General / Coffee Shop / Sure, lock the pump gas thread on: December 02, 2011, 06:56:51 PM
Fong, Ed and Redline gave me a heads up about this thread earlier today, but I don't have internet access at work. So just let me say...I once had a 1960 Ford Falcon that beat a VW once, and it was running whatever fuel Fong put in the tank. He had to be quick about the refills, though, because I had a badger living in the trunk..

And just for Chuck, let me say, "I am your father, Luke..."

12  Race and Event Announcements / ARMA Races / ARMA Points Race in Wisconsin on: May 09, 2011, 07:05:10 PM
On Sunday,  May 29, ARMA will be presenting its only Midwest points race of the year in Fifield, Wisconsin (motto- Where less is more). Fifield is located on State Highway 13 in the “North Woods” area of Wisconsin, approximately 60 miles north of Wausau.

The track is a dedicated lawn mower track with a clay surface, flat turns, and is about 700' long. It always provides a very racy surface. This event is renowned for its big crowds for the mower races, up to 2000 fans. The race benefits the Fifield Fire Department, with proceeds going to the Department’s equipment purchase fund.

Practice will start at 11:00 AM, with qualifying at noon. On-track driver introductions will be at 1:00PM with racing immediately following.

The Fire Department will have food and refreshments available for sale on the race grounds, and they cook a mean brat (A Wisconsin delicacy, unlike the corn dogs in Iowa).

Those wishing to obtain lodging will be well served to find lodging at one of the many motels in Wausau. Memorial Day weekend in Wisconsin finds  most hotel rooms filled in the tourist areas (Fifield). Ed King may let certain select racers sleep in his garage the night of the races, but he fully expects those who do to help him “re-grout” his bathroom walls the next day.

Again, this is the only Midwest ARMA race of the year, so for those wishing to get qualified for ARMA’s Championship weekend, this will be your only opportunity in the upper Midwest. The next closest races will be in Ohio.

As usual, there is no race entry  fee. We only require that everyone have a good time.

If you have any further questions, please PM me.

President, Badger State Mower Racing Assoc.
13  General / Coffee Shop / Gas Prices on: February 23, 2011, 06:52:41 PM
OK, the mid-east is on fire and as a result, crude oil supplies may be interupted. Our President has no known energy policy other than, "No, you can't drill here, there or anywhere". We are looking at potential gasoline shortages with prices of who knows how high this summer, and a resultant re-crash of our economy to boot.

Yup, it's a wonderful day.

PS. Anyone seen our AWOL socialist Wisconsin State Senators? We don't really want them back, but we want to make sure they found good homes.
14  Race and Event Announcements / ARMA Races / Final ARMA Mid-West Regional on: August 23, 2010, 06:42:56 PM
Saturday, August 28 marks the final ARMA MId-West regional race. It will be held at the Fish Tank Bar & Grill, 6606 County Hwy J, Weston WI, 54476. The race day schedule is:

Registration/Tech- 1:00
Practice- 1:30
Qualifying- 2:30
Racing - 3:00

This is your chance to get a few more points to improve your starting position at the ARMA championship race week end in October. Plus, because the race is hosted by Badger State/Brothers of the Blade, you know there will be plenty of kibitzing and foolishness before, during and after the race. This is also the summer season finale for Badger State, so we will have our championship presentations being made shortly after the conclusion of the racing activities.

Hope to see a few new faces...

15  Race and Event Announcements / ARMA Races / BSMRA/Midwest Region Points Races on: July 01, 2010, 07:31:22 PM
I am proud to announce that the Badger State Mower Racing Association races to be held on July 11 in Fifield, WI and on August 28 at the Fish Tank Bar in Weston, WI will be ARMA Midwest Region points races. Thses 2 races, along with the August 7 event in Crown Point, IN, give the Midwest region 3 point races, making the road to an ARMA class champiuonship more attainable. The number of races attended and class wins are important tie-breakers used by ARMA in determing it's champions.

Both of these tracks are noted for their high spectator turnouts and "racy" track surfaces.

BSMRA invites all upper Midwest racers to come on up and enjoy the fun at our events, and maybe get you in a good position for an ARMA championship.

If you have any questions, please e-mail or pm me.

Steve Bertrand
President, BSMRA
