1  Engine Help / Briggs OHV & Vanguard / Re: Could i tell a Cheetah with a dial gauge? on: Today at 08:05:58 PM
HE MEANS TIMING GROUND INTO THE CAM. JUST MOVING ONE TOOTH EITHER WAY MAKES THE CHANGES GO TO FAR AND IT WON'T RUN RIGHT IF IT RUNS AT ALL. AS FAR AS RUNNING OUT AT THE FLAGSTAND WELL THATS ALL IN YOUR GEARING, BUT THATS ANOTHER THREAD! LOL THE BEST WAY TO GET A CAM RIGHT IS CALL AND TALK TO ANY OF THE GOOD GRINDERS AND TELL THEM WHAT YOU ARE DOING AND WHAT YOU GOT TO WORK WITH. THE BETTER INFO IN THE BETTER YOUR ENGINE WILL RUN! THESE GUYS [CAM GRINDERS] WANT YOU TO HAVE THE BEST EXPERIENCE WITH THEIR CAMS YOU CAN GET, THEY WILL HELP!

3  Engine Help / Briggs OHV & Vanguard / Re: Could i tell a Cheetah with a dial gauge? on: August 31, 2014, 03:43:06 PM
If i put a Cheetah in a motor vs a stock cam +.100 lift could i see the difference with a dial indicator on the pushrod? I CAN NOT get into the motor. I'm asking for a tech situation. Just want to see if the lift is that much different in the dark in a dusty tech shed.

Thanks
I AM NOT SURE WHAT YOU ARE GETTING AT? ARE YOU SAYING YOU CANNOT PULL OFF THE ROCKER COVER BECAUSE IF YOU CAN'T THATS GOING TO BE A TRICK! IF YOU CAN PULL THE ROCKER COVER USE THE DIAL CALIPERS LIKE A HEIGHT GAGE FROM THE RETAINER TO THE HEAD FOR TOTAL LIFT OR THE ROCKER, ON THE PUSHROD SIDE, TO THE HEAD FOR CAM LIFT. IF I READ YOUR QUESTION CORRECT THE ANSWER YES! O-YA AND USE A GOOD FLASHLIGHT!

$1500 TO 2500, DEPENDS ON WHO DOES THE PORTING AND HOW MUCH CARB WORK YOU DO. THE REST OF THE PARTS CAN BE HAD AT THE VENDERS IN THE LINKS SECTION.

CHECK THE AIR GAP ON THE COIL TO MAGNET AND IF THERE IS RUST ON THE MAGNET THAT SOME FINE SANDPAPER AND CLEAN IT OFF, IT WILL HELP.
