5  Engine Help / Briggs Flathead / Re: VENTING A 12HP FLATHEAD on: September 11, 2014, 09:42:51 AM
RUN A STOCK ROD WITH NO GOVERNOR! LOL ON A SERIOUS NOTE. REMOVE THE BREATHER COVERING THE VALVE SPRINGS, SEE THE LITTLE HOLE GOING TO THE CRANKCASE. MOST DRILL THIS TO 3/16, IF YOU ARE NOT SURE START SMALLER AND GO SLOW AND BUILD TO 3/16. BE CAREFUL NOT TO DRILL THROUGH. [IF YOU DO USE JB WELD TO REPAIR] NEXT THROUGH AWAY THE VENT AND MAKE A ALUMINUM PLATE AND DRILL A 3/16 HOLE IN THE CENTER AND TAP WITH A 1/8 PIPE TAP. YOU THEN PUT A FITTING TO ATTACH A HOSE TO RUN TO A CATCH CAN. THERE IS ANOTHER SPOT IT IS NEXT TO WHERE THE LIFTERS SLID THROUGH, THERE IS A LITTLE SHIELDED AREA THAT SOME VENT USING THE SAME DRILL AND TAP METHOD TO VENT THE MAIN CASE. HOPE THIS HELPS!

ASK GEORGE, UNLESS SOMEONE ELSE KNOWS OF A LONGER THAN STOCK ROD MADE BY BRIGGS FOR THE 28ci FLATTY.
9  Engine Help / Briggs Flathead / Re: 12.5 rod and piston on: September 08, 2014, 02:24:20 PM
IN ALL THE YEARS I HAVE MESSED WITH AND BEEN ON HERE I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF A LONGER STOCK BRIGGS CONNECTING ROD. MY SUGGESTION IS ASK THE MAN THE MYTH THE LEGEND, GEORGE. HE HAS FORGOTTEN MORE THAN MOST ON HERE REMEMBER! LOL
10  Engine Help / Briggs Flathead / Re: 12.5 rod and piston on: September 08, 2014, 12:11:25 PM
THAT'S AFTERMARKET PARTS NOT BRIGGS. THAT SETUP IS MEANT FOR DOING A 31ci  VERSION OF THE 28ci BRIGGS FLATHEAD. CONFUSED YET!
11  Engine Help / Briggs Flathead / Re: 12.5 rod and piston on: September 08, 2014, 10:00:43 AM
Yes both 28's.i thought I read on here once that the 12.5 has a longer rod and the piston pin was higher.
I think someone called it a cheap stroker
ALL THE FLATHEAD BRIGGS 28ci ARE THE SAME STROKE AND HAVE THE SAME BORE. THE PISTON AND RODS ARE THE SAME DIAMETER AND LENGTH.

15  Engine Help / Briggs OHV & Vanguard / Re: Could i tell a Cheetah with a dial gauge? on: September 01, 2014, 08:05:58 PM
HE MEANS TIMING GROUND INTO THE CAM. JUST MOVING ONE TOOTH EITHER WAY MAKES THE CHANGES GO TO FAR AND IT WON'T RUN RIGHT IF IT RUNS AT ALL. AS FAR AS RUNNING OUT AT THE FLAGSTAND WELL THATS ALL IN YOUR GEARING, BUT THATS ANOTHER THREAD! LOL THE BEST WAY TO GET A CAM RIGHT IS CALL AND TALK TO ANY OF THE GOOD GRINDERS AND TELL THEM WHAT YOU ARE DOING AND WHAT YOU GOT TO WORK WITH. THE BETTER INFO IN THE BETTER YOUR ENGINE WILL RUN! THESE GUYS [CAM GRINDERS] WANT YOU TO HAVE THE BEST EXPERIENCE WITH THEIR CAMS YOU CAN GET, THEY WILL HELP!
