Briggs OHV & Vanguard / Vanny vtwin 14hp stock cam spacer
« on: February 17, 2013, 10:40:23 AM »
I've searched on hear and read about a spacer that needs to be made in order to maintain oil pressure on a bare no governor stock vanguard twin cam. I've removed everything on the cam, it's now hollow. I just don't understand what the spacer is suppose to look like and the best way to do it. A picture of this spacer would help a bunch!

Driveline / 350 (Im stumped)
« on: December 19, 2010, 04:05:22 PM »
I have my peerless all rebuilt with bearings and seals, its together the way the diagram shows(with reverse removed).
Heres the problem, it will shift into all gears but with only ingage into two of the 3 gears possible(reverse removed).

I dont know the shift pattern but here is what i found
Forward and to the left is 3 to 1
Forward to the right it just spins the input
Back to the right is about 6.3 to 1
Back to the left it just spins on the input.

I cant figure out why it will only engage in them two gears and nothing more. Any suggestions?

« on: June 11, 2010, 09:01:07 PM »
Ok I been thinking about how i could set up my rear axle on my mtd lawnflite chassis. I was gonna weld some 1 inch square tubing then put pillow blocks on top of that for my axle. This is CP class if that helps. I wanted to know how you guys would do this so I need your opinions.

Briggs OHV & Vanguard / 31ci avs
« on: January 04, 2010, 08:44:17 PM »
I got a 31 avs motor and was thinking instead of buying the brass weights would getting the crank balnaced allow me to get rid of the AVS and not have to run the brass weights? This will have a stock cam in it also so im thinking of using the flathead timing gear as I have read that they are weak, preferably which model flatheads timing gear will interchange?

Plate steel (end plates) Thickness???
Heim ends 1/2" or should i go 3/8"

Spindels look like they are hard to make, so I dont know what im gonna do their.

« on: October 14, 2009, 03:40:41 PM »
How well do you think a 3/4 live axle (i believe its a steel that is used for hydraulic cylinder rods, its chromed) would hold up?Because I have this at the moment but if it wont hold up then ill go 1 1/4. Oh and its a farly smooth track, with an ocassional bump or two.

Driveline / Opposed Gearing
« on: October 09, 2009, 10:59:45 AM »
I have a slightly modifed opposed twin. I did everything don shows in his video and Im trying to find out my gearing. Im running a 350 tranny(race prepped) in 2nd gear, which is 4.11. Im running a 6 on the engine to a 6 on the tranny. What should i look for, for the sprockets? The track has farely short straights and medium wide corners. One of the tracks is banked pretty high and the rest are mostly flat. I think the straights are mostly 50 to 80 feet long and pretty wide corners.
