you could also just put a 12hp intake, carb and air cleaner on it. probably the best way to get rid of that 11hp carb.

for a 28" engine, the 25" head will work great. once you start modifying the engine with a cam and such you would want to go to the 28" head.

Polaris has the stand alone tranny with a vari-drive pulley. gives you forward and reverse . just have to get the belt and pulleys that go with it. 1 gear in each direction and holds for a 600lb atv plus rider.

too loose may be correct. the problem may be that you need belt guides so that you put the 'loose' in the right area. belt guides will help keep the belt in the same place and when clutch is pressed it only loosens at the pulleys.

I ran a 25 "Cool Bore" for a few years, I found a crank out of a horizontal 25 and eliminated the Syncro balance system, it ran very well. With that you could get the ARC rod and AVS piston but you would need to use the iron bore block.
or find a good engine shop to bore and sleeve the coolbore bkock. so far, 2yrs with no problems

to keep your cost down, yes the billet rod, get a piston for a 28" AVS engine, new model 15 or 16hp ohv engine. i cant get the specific model # you will need or the part # on the piston, but these gentlemen of infinite wisdom will have the part # for the piston on their sleeve. piston and rings set will cost about 40. if that helps any.

Not a shorter rod but had a shorter stroke thus the shorter block.

i believe hitch has a 22''25"28" motor that runs good. of course cant remember what part is what in the motor. lol. Build the 25" and put all the goodies in it. the flywheel, billet rod, avs piston, crank and cam will all work in a 28". only difference was that the block was shorter and had a shorter rod and the head has a smaller chamber.

i would use T6 aluminum for the rod. the counterweights are there to neutral balance the crank. if you build them out of something different, then it wont be balanced. you would have to spin the crank on a lathe with a dial indicator and check for balance with the plates installed and adjust from there. you will either be able to say that you made the rod and counterweights and be proud or replace the engine after you blow it up and say i made the rod and weights and caused the engine to blow.
