Coffee Shop / Mychron users.
« on: March 29, 2013, 12:30:39 am »
Looking to buy a mychron gauge.  I've always had digatrons and bad good luck.  But I'm doing something different so I'm in need of a mychron because the probes plug in to the dyno.

I'm in need of RPM and 2 EGT's.   What mychron do I need?   All the sites I've been to don't have a "cut and dried" description like the digatrons have.

Also how do these compare to the digatrons?   Durability?   Customer service for repair?

Coffee Shop / Real racing wheels.
« on: March 13, 2013, 01:36:38 pm »
I ordered some wheels from Real Racing Wheels for my new project.  I went with them because they are in Iowa and I thought I'd get them fast.  Well I sent them a message and they said they are on back order.  But gave me no time frame.

Anyone have any experience with then and how long did it take to get your wheels?

Not bashing them. It is just I need them to keep working on my project.

Thanks

« on: December 18, 2012, 10:38:27 pm »
There will be a swap meet at Doug Babers shop in Hartford Iowa on Jan 5

Starting at noon

Bring your stuff to sell or come to buy parts for your mower!

Doug's shop is right behind the Git and Go.  It is right on Hwy 5 so you can't miss it.
All the guys will be there so if you have any questions plan on attending as well.  There will be lots of parts and some mowers to look at if you have any build questions.

I know I will have a bunch of parts for sale.  My BP and FX will probably be there for sale as well.

Doug is working on getting some of the local Kart guys there to sell off their spare parts they are looking to move.

This should be a great event!

Coffee Shop / Supermod question
« on: April 05, 2012, 01:00:45 am »
So here is the deal.

I hate the new supermodel/FXT/whatever you call the go kart mowers. But I watch and have an open mind as I'm all for the sport moving forward.

Every supermodel race I've seen has ill handling mowers with a ton of power. Fast down the straights......slow thru the corners.

The class allows offset.    And NO suspension.

All I've seen have the drivers seat closer to the left tire.

The driver is the heaviest thing on the mower......so why would you place that weight over the tire your trying lift to corner ??????????????

Been thinking.............why hasn't anyone else thought of this?     Well I did but at nationals in 2010. Just kept it to myself.

Supermod racers your welcome.

Coffee Shop / Central Iowa Lawn Mower Racing is where I've been!
« on: September 20, 2011, 10:57:29 pm »
For those who know me, you know that I didn't make it to any National events in 2011.  I was busy racing locally with a group that has been around for a few years now.

They are a great group of guys to run with and a lot of fun to be around.

They recently obtained a new track in Carslile Iowa.  It is a dedicated mower track with mower racers running it.  They have old stop lights in turns 1 and 3.  They have installed drainage tile on the track so if it rains the standing water leaves FAST!  Perminent fencing and MOWED pits!!!

Here is a link to their facebook page which they just got up and running.
http://www.facebook.com/pages/Central-Iowa-Lawn-Mower-Racing-Association/171920732888385

Lots of pics there of this new track.

I have to say, If you ever get this way you NEED to race at this track.  It is set up for mowers.  It is 480' more or less.  They have been making some changes so it has been a few feet different each week.  Slight banking in the corners.  And they are tight, but not crazy tight.  It is good dirt and offers many groves if racing.  It also offers different styles of grip depending on the day.  Some days wet and sticky all day and some days it dries out and gets dry slick, and then there gets to be a black grove in the track by days end!

Also these guys have built some killer mowers.   I dare to say there are 4-5 CP's that will finish in the top 5 anywhere in the nation, they just haven't been anywhere to see where they fit in.  Which CP is the strongest class we have, and I unfortunately don't have one...........so I have to get beat on my SP now!!!

Never fear, I'm going to try to get to some national events next year.  A lot will depend on my new work schedule.  Not a new job, but more work.  I'm still farming with my Dad, but I just signed a contact to farm 400 more acres next year.  And I'm still working on another 160 acres, so I will be quite busy!  And poorer..........I just bought 2 different planters yesterday, that hurt!

For those who didn't know I took a little time off. Went on a motorcycle trip with the wife.

We rode 2333 miles in 7 days. Went north through Duluth. Over to the UP all the way to Copper Harbor. From there East across the Macinaw bridge. South along lake michigan. To Elkhart indiana. Through Chicago, down the Mississippi river and back home across southern Iowa.

No reservations. Just ride and get a hotel on the road. Awesome trip!

Good to be sitting on couch at home!

Coffee Shop / Any Yamaha motorcycle guys on here?
« on: May 25, 2011, 11:08:28 pm »
Here's the deal.

I have a 04 Yamaha Road Star and I'm looking to upgrade the carb.  I've done some mods and now the stock carb don't like them.  I've tried everything to make it better, but I still have a cough as I start to roll in the throttle off idle.

I screwed up and didn't buy the Yamaha Speedstar carb last year, they have now discontinued it.  It is a Mikunni HSR 42 that accepts stock cables and the stock TPS.

I can slap on a HSR 42 and modify the cables, but the TPS is an issue.  I want to keep the TPS as it helps with the low end and driveability.  Not so much concerned with top end.

So Yami guys, what are my options?

And to all you, "you should of bought a Harley" guys..............you better have a 04 or newer Harley sitting in your garage to give me crap.  If you have a Sportster, it don't matter what year, I will shut you down.  The Yami was what I could afford and I paid cash for it new............so keep your jokes to yourself!

If I didn't have 3 racing mowers.........................I'd have a Harley.....................but don't remind the wife!!!

Coffee Shop / Honda Knock off engine help
« on: March 11, 2011, 02:21:32 pm »
I've got a water/chemical pump with a china engine.  I bought in a pinch last year as my briggs blew up after 10 years of abuse!  Anyway the side cover came loose and started to leak oil.  So I'm in need of a gasket and a seal.  I need help identifying this thing so I can get parts for it.

Here are the specs
Jeangsu Jiangdong
6.5 HP
No. 061201837
Code JD196283401
Number on block 07t040935
Number on cover 2549-0041

Can anyone tell me the Honda engine this is copied off of?  It looks like the clone engines the kart guys use, but I'm not sure.

Any help would be great!!

Thanks
Paul
