Hey Phil,

Welcome to the site. As for grass cutters, no modifying at all, if you
need more power, put a bigger stock engine on there. Not to be a
gig harsher, but safety is paramount, and we do not promote the
modification of the grass cutters.

Coffee Shop / New Year, New Race Seasons
« on: January 01, 2018, 09:38:44 AM »
Happy New Year to ALL!!

Some have started racing the new season from Labor Day, and others from their finals.
Some will be adding up points in winter series, and others yet
to start til the spring. Don't forget those crazy nuts ice racing,(because they can) in the
frozen north. It's all racing, a new time for making fun, new friends, forgetting the
bad parts of the last year, and making up for some of it.... hey, do it, even if it wasn't
your fault. Start anew, Go for it, have some fun, making history, be nostalgic, make mow
puns.

Thanks for being,
Marc

Briggs OHV & Vanguard / Re: Pressure lube vs splash lube
« on: September 24, 2017, 11:43:39 AM »
Splash lube: Has an oil slinger ran off the cam. The connecting rod has oil holes to capture oil for the bearings.

Pressure lube: Has an oil slinger ran off the cam (STILL NEEDED) and has an oil pump giving oil fed to the main bearing.
The connecting rod may have oil holes to capture oil for the bearings.

Full pressure lube: May or may not have a slinger(USE IF PRESENT) and has an oil pump feeding oil to the top main bearing
of motor and all the parts in between. Usually through the cam and a hollow crank. Oil is pumped through the connecting rod.

I have seen a single OHV with oiling through the crank, but do not have the number handy.

Sump off of motor. Spring is broken on release lobe. Do you have to buy the entire cam  or can you buy a rebuild kit?

Whole cam.

Good call. If battery tests good with load test, and starter passes a test as well.

Seen them break in the middle of a turn twice.
One had reinforcement as well.

A scattershield made of 1/8 steel around the flywheel is highly recommended, in the event of a flywheel failure, this will contain it, reducing the chances of injury.

This will not contain didly squat.
