Kohler Engines / Re: 25 hp Kohler
« on: July 07, 2013, 11:58:11 am »
so am I safe to say that since 25 hp kohler motors were in exmarks and cadet mowers and that this motor come out of a skid steer loader of some sort and not a mower. That I could run it in a racing mower if the track I decide to run has this particular class.

Thanks

Ok, so the next question is this. Where can I find what model 25 horse kohlers were on mowers. That way I can stick it on my future racer I'm planning on building.

A buddy of mine has a horizontal 25 hp twin Kohler motor he said I could have for 50 bucks. Problem is it came out of a skid steer loader. Not sure I can use it in anything. What do you all think. Should I or shouldn't I get it.

same thing in the karting world. I went to the grand nationals, and oh my word. I couldn't believe how many classes they run now. they really put on a great show when they run 2 karts for 15 laps.

Chassis / what chassis
« on: May 17, 2013, 07:00:57 pm »
I have a ranch king chassis and a power pro chassis. the power pro has somewhat of a pointed front frame unlike the ranch king is you typical square front chassis. should I use one of these or go with something else. what is the best factory frame to use. I plan on sometime to build a complete chassis from the ground up, but for now need help on what the best is for now.

When I raced karts, I did a lot of business with this company. When I try and go to their website, it comes up as a blank white page. Are they in business anymore.

So your saying that you run stock Briggs clearances on these racing engines

Ok guy's and girls, I picked up a couple riders to play around with. Looking to maybe try my luck at this racing adventure. So, I just started it today, smokes like crazy. Tell me what I should/need do to this thing. I use build my own Briggs 5 hp flatheads for years when I raced karts. I want to tackle this myself but have know clue on what clearances to run for anything this big (rod to crank, piston to wall, ring gap etc...) More thing likely this will need to be a modified racer to pull this old fat butt around   Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Coffee Shop / Century welder
« on: April 06, 2013, 03:15:58 pm »
I just picked up a older Century quick fix 110 welder. The guy thought it was a Lincoln 100, but I guess not....

Here is the specs:

Model #117-034
Serial #071-845
input - 120 vac 60hz
10 - 18
output - 75 adc
arkvolts - 18
cycle - 20%

It has a switch that goes from low-off-high with a dial for wire speed
I know nothing about these welders. Just need to know if this thing will do the trick in building my racer or should I take it back. I paid a 100 bucks for it. DID I OVER PAY!!!

Thanks, boxcar (aka Don)

Newcomers / Yep I'm new

I'm 55 years old and for the past few months I cannot get enough of these racing mowers. I have watched so many you tube video's that some people think I'm nuts. I live in South Dakota and was involved in kart racing and helping with all the track operations for over 25 years.
These racers absolutely blow me away. The v-twins with all their power and the sound they put out, AWESOME... If any of you reading this have any information/websites I can check out engines, chassis, parts etc, please let me know.

I know I'm going to learn so much here on this site that I'm almost giddy..

Thanks, Don (boxcar)
