Coffee Shop / Re: mower handling

9 times out of 10 I will take handling over horsepower. There is no substitute for a chassis that will handle. Thats my opinion.

You can't even compare the two. They are totally different machinces. It's like NASCAR and Indy car difference.

There is not even an FX class in Potterville. There is a FXS and FXT. The FXS tractor at the track runs a built Honda. Your flatty will never touch it. Why waste the money???  Just build a SP if thats what you got. These guys on here telling you what to do, know whats going on. This is not there first rodeo.

Yeah the second was a little close to the edge. We refinshed the track last week because of how loose it was. Thanks for the comments guys.

I race with Glenn at our local track and I can tell you that it is not finished. He started a new job around the first of the year and is working 70-80 hours a week so his tractor and Heymow time has come to a halt untill he gets things rolling along at his new job. Experienced manager at new dealership and you guys can figure out the rest. The only ones that are done are his BP and his daugthers JP. I will let him know you are asking though

Like Steve said 170 in/lbs is what arc recommends. I just did mine on my intek with no problems. I think it was like 14.6 or so ft/lbs. And if I remember right it says more is better than less.

I cut aluminim plate down for customers for a living and I know you wont have a quarter million dollar plate saw sitting in your garage but the skil saw would be the best way. It is the closet to what we do. It will be extremely loud but should work out for you. Like oldfordman21 said opt for a good carbide blade.

Well finally got it figured out. 3 coils later finally got a good one. Started up and would go 100% throttle. I guess I thought after 1 coil change that couldnt be it. Thanks for all the help. Craig

I forgot to write that too. Tank had new gas in it straight from the shell station. Tank was cleaned out also. I was setting coil air gap right around .011. This thing has me :bash:

Briggs OHV & Vanguard / 31 ci Breaking up

I am about at my wits end with my engine. Got it in the new chassis, started right up, but it will not rev up past quarter throttle. Not with one engine but with two different engines.Checked the flywheel key and replaced with a new. The things that interchanged between the two were the flywheel (stock), the head, and the carb and intake. Both are doing the same thing. I have put another carb and intake (from a known good running engine), different flywheel, coil, and fuel pump with nothing working. Have double checked valves and tore the oil pan off to check timing marks. The engine is ungoverened. Anything that I am missing?? Any ideas would help. Thanks, Craig

Alot like burwell555 said that is basically what we have here for classes to is a stock ungoverened, prepared chassis. Actually has better racing than the mods do because no hp advantages, etc. Have them OHV and Flateads. Have 8-10 tractors  in both classes race after race and they are cheap to maintain throughout the year.
