Title: tach's
Post by: 1031 on December 24, 2005, 02:13:44 am
Ok another question for you guys.
I know about the Digatron and other brands of tach's.
Are there any other tach's that can be used that are a little cheaper?
Is there any way to modify an automotive tach to run on your mower?

thanks guys,

Most automotive tach will not work, because they are calibrated to run or measure more than one cylinder (4-6-8) and you'll get a false reading..

Arc sells a nice analog tach for "around" $130...

(then click yellow "digitron" on left)

There are others too.

Google "Tiny Tach"

also, look for digital engine hour meters.  I have seen some in the past that have a tach function.

Problem with the tiny tach's is you will crash trying to see them and they do not have a recall. The Jr. Drag tach by auto meter I believe, doesn't have recall but if mounted out on the hood is readable. I used one for a year. The Digatrons now can do anything you want and then some. Call them ask to speak with either Bettie or Jen Tell them I sent ya and they may give ya a good discount. Any is better than none.

Say George,

Do you happen to have a Phone # or Addy for Digitron...?

I bought a used Digi tach/CHT off e-bay and would like to get/download the instruction book so I can set this up..
