ok what about using the murry rails with the JD body? I know you can use different body than the frame.

is it a good chassis to use for fxs? Old style 111. the reason I ask is cause it has the twin frame rails like the murry wide body chassis. but wasnt for sure cause the fender section dont know if you could cut that out like they do on the murrys. And sit correctly that is.

for #1 700's were more than just 3 speeds........
#2 some were footes
#3 it is just that a forward nutral reverse box............

But for any of those that are chain drive unless they want an arm and a leg for, grab all that you can...........also some of the chain drive trannys were peerless 350-400 so definately grab all of those that you can cause they dont make them any more........worth some bux to sell parts from.

again like he said there will be several opinions here on this one.........so here is mine.........

Build the MTD, with the 12 hp engine............use the 11 hp head on it. Also remember that in the build section there is ton of information there ..............good luck and welcome to the headache...........lol

I have been told that if you accidently hook the charger up back wards on a battery and charge it that way it will turn the starter back wards...........

But check  this one out...........I got a mower from a friend to work on and the first thing I did was try to start it...........starter turned back ward.......I changed the battery and it still turned back ward. So I thought maybe some one been inside the starter brushes and hand them back ward............wrong........hooked to a battery booster and was still running backward.........NOW FOR THE KICKER OF THE STORY...............it was a new/reman. starter.............the only thing I could figure out is that who ever put the maginets in the barrell put one in back wards.........and they were glued in so I couldnt take them out........lol

a friend of mine bought one off of ebay , dont know the seller but I traded a lawn mower for it and it worked just fine. they said that the onlly thing wrong with it was the antiback fire solonid. changed it and ran fine I sold it for 300 bux. it was a 24 hp intek. But they have had several that were total junk too. I would say it would be a gamble no matter the odds...........just my 2 cents.

here is some thing else you can do.........take a 3/4 axel lock, wield a sprocket to it and use it as a rotor for a manual brake or a hydrolick brake.......

go to the build section and lower it and use a 5 sp peerless or a 700 with a live kart axel........easiest set up to do............
