Briggs Flathead / block patching
« on: December 10, 2006, 03:17:55 pm »
Hey everyone, i just wanted to find out if any of you have patched holes in blocks before. i done  it several times using J. B. Weld, works pefect. ive also covered a hole with duct tape and spray painted over it and it worked lmao, matter of fact, they still use the push mower...

the reason i ask is because a buddy of mine blew his 8hp horizontal, and put a quarter size hole in the block, and im rebulding it. i know J. B. Weld will hold up to it perfectly, just thought i would find out if anyone else had somethin different/better.

p.s. pictures will come soon of the engine

Briggs Flathead / shaving a head
« on: December 06, 2006, 10:53:03 pm »
hey guys, i know yall hate repeated questions, but ive looked at every post on the flathead briggs (as some one you pointed out they were old...) and i didnt find any specs on how much you can shave a head. im lookin to shave the head on a 10hp briggs i have, and as far as i can gather, shaving .05 is about right. am i correct? i also have an 11hp i/c and a 18 ywin i wish to have the heads shaved on.
Thanks for listening.
