Coffeeville is about 2 and a half hours away and Yocum Creek is a little over an hour. I will probably check both out. They look like good places to race.

Briggs Flathead / Stock Modified Tips?
« on: May 03, 2014, 09:04:41 pm »
I'm currently building a model 28 Briggs 12.5 horse for stock modified class (open exhaust/air cleaner). I'm wondering if anyone has tips for tuning the engine to squeeze out more torque. I don't plan on splurging for a billet flywheel and high torque starter, so I will have to keep it governed at 3600. I've already polished the ports and the intake manifold. I heard somewhere that you can retard the cam timing. I'm also not sure what a good pulley ratio for this build would be. Any tips or advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Hello all,

I've got a racing mower project that I just started here in Springfield, Mo. However, the closest place that I've found to race it at is Yocum Creek Speedway in Arkansas. Does anyone know of any races closer to Springfield?
