I would say your jack shaft might be rolling on its mount.  If you imagine your motor pulling forward on the bottom and the trans pulling the top back.  You may need to brace the fram more where the jack is mounted.

I have done many rear ends over the years and just weld up the web between the spider gears on either side of the side gears.  If you weld up the side gears they can crack and strip.  On my 820 I just had a shaft made keyed and had the side covers keyed.  Used lock collars on the outsides so it couldn't slide.

I junk sleds so our mower is part yamaha sled of coarse

there is a mower in town that has a 488cc 2stroke sled engine in it.

here are a few other fun things you can do with a sled

It came to my attention that some of you southern boys have never even seen a sled.  I thought I would do a community service post for yall down south.
Sledding in norhtern maine is amazing, if you have the cash and want a great vacation, check it out.  It is the last legal speed.  Trails are groomed flat, wide and are fast if you want them to be.  Sleds range from 70hp kids sleds to 165hp stock sleds to turbocharged sleds upward of 500hp.  There is alot of resistance to overcome so the hp numbers don't line up to any other motorsports.  For example, my sled is a 2006 Yamaha Apex.  I have modified everything but the motor.  It has 150hp version of an R1 bike engine.  In a bike, this motor would send it to 170 pretty easy.  In a sled, 120 is the max.  As far as accelleration though, a sled will out accellerate a bike everytime.  They use CVT clutching so they are always shifting out to accellerate and allways on the powerband.  My sled is a 4 stroke, Yamaha has made no other kind for years.  Other manufactuers use 2stroke for most of the sleds.  They will run 7-8500 to make the peak power, my sled runs 10,600 peak.   Again with the resistance, a bike with my motor, 30-50mpg, my sled gets 13-16mpg.  The other reason for this is the bikes feewheel, sleds are almost always under power and run a constant 5-6000 at most any speed.
If you get to ride them, you will be hooked, There is nothing quite like it, 110 down a 6mile lake, riding balls out up a bumpy powerline or that cold moon lit ride through the tisty trails on the wood roads.  Again, there is nothing that accellerates like a sled.  Just an idea of how fast a sled can accellerate, Ice racing WORLD RECORD 4.60sec. 146 mph in 660 ft. WORLD RECORD 3.89 136 mph in 500 ft grass 1st in the 3's in 500 grass drag.  These are twin turbocharged 4stroke yamaha mod sleds.  A stock class firecat with 140hp would run 5.3-5.5.  Radar runs at 1000ft this same sled would show 103-106.  Those turbo 4strokes will top out around 170ish in 1000ft.  Record at bonneville for a sled is 210.

now for some pictures, this is my apex, lengthened and slightly altered in about a hundred different ways.

a merg should have the same outlet size as the pipe going into it if it is flowing two opposing exhaust pulses.

I gave all engine information to SPD, operating rpm, valve size, bore stroke, firing order.  They came back with 36in to merg.  The lower the rpm you want power, the longer the head pipe.  Merg exit same as pipe size, all bends before merg if posible.  What a pain :bash:

We have heat wrap for it still to be put on but I wanted a couple coats of paint baked on it first.

I used mandrel bent pieces.  It is equal lengthed with the wave tuned to 5000rpm.  12deg merg.  I have no tig welder so I migged it on low heat so there would be very little melt through, makes for alot of grinding but better than a bunch of crap hanging in the way.  It has a removable tail pipe so we can try a few differnt sizes and legths.  We run it one time after making it.  Sounds better than the two open short pipes we had before.
Maybe this year we can spend some time making it faster now that exhaust, steering and transaxle is done ish.
I had to build a flange tower for bolt clearence.
the flange to remove was used from a 4 stroke yamaha snowsled
from the side this is what you see

I can not imagine any situation where I would rather have a flatty in a machine that when the rods let go, it falls to the ground.  I think I would go with the v motors.

Sorry you didnt make it.  It was a great time.  Maybe you can come down next year.  I or someone will post the new rules for next year on here when they decide what they want to do.

just make a hole in the middle of the mower where you can put your sneaker on the belt to slow it down, kinda like you did with the tire on your bicycle when you were a kid.
