Hi, I've looked thro' the History of post's here and not found this subject. :(
Nearly everybody says the CV/CH 25,27 and 30 HP crankshafts are interchangeable. I bought one with a smaller PTO shaft size, matched them up and my original shaft has a small sholder next to the camshaft drive cog? This fits into a very flat bearing which is also shimmed before it then fits into the block side coverplate.
To come around this problem do I just need to buy another side plate, or have a ring made to fit the crankshaft??
Open to any surrgestions, :D

In the end all of my engines ran a small journal crank in a big bore block, there are many bushings available out there that come impregnated with oil, not that they have to be, any machine shop can make you one.

One more thought, look for the stock drain hole (if there is one) and be sure to drill it in the bushing. Also I make a small grove starting inside the block and lengthwise on the bearing stopping just before the outer edge of the bearing. this gives sone drain back and a small place for oil to stay after the engine is off. I also make it a slight press fit and glue it in with locktite, not the nut retainer one but 609 designed to really keep it tight.

Just buy the correct Torrington bearing that goes on it. Some commands had a Torrington bearing.
