Racing Mower Builds / My '07 racin mowchine!
« on: February 18, 2007, 12:32:50 am »
Here is the start of my 2007 season mowchine, compliments of my DH of course. ;)  Not sure of the year, but it's a Wizard.  First two pics are of mower as we received it.

Here it is stripped down!

Next two are Ty's handy work on a custom made front axle.

Next two are custom made spindles.  He still has some finishing work to do on them.

New posi rear end with brakes.  He set the brake system up so clutch and brake operate from the same pedal.  He got an awesome deal on the caliper, master and hose assembly... $66.00 + shipping!!  My brake disk was originally a sprocket that he cut out with a plasma torch.  Pretty crafty, eh?

He cut the old clutch/brake pedals off and made new ones.  Old brake pedal now serves as gas pedal!  :woo:

Rear view of axle.

Rolling chassis at 4".  Was originally about 8".

He also remodified the clutch in order to house a larger pulley but has no pics of that yet.  Installation of tranny is next but waiting on a sprocket.  Going to work on finishing up the steering while waiting on the sprocket.  Also has fender, seat & hood fitted but no pics of that yet either.  Will get more pics as it progresses.

Other Interesting Builds / My Trike!!!
« on: November 07, 2006, 12:29:07 am »
Ty has FINALLY started this long awaited project of building my LAWNMOWER TRIKE!!  WooHoo!!

And as soon as someone tells me how to resize these photos, I'll get right on that!  The photos are actually 500 x 375 but they were resized in the post for some reason.... ????

He is using a rear engine Simplicity.

This is, or rather was, the front end of a 1975 Kawasaki KZ.

Here the front end is welded on...  NOW we're getting somewhere!  The handle bars are HD drag bars.

Gas tank is off of a HD Sportster but is just for looks.  Possibly will transform into storage... Mama needs her gloves for riding!

Rear axle and wheels mounted!

It has an 11hp B&S engine & a Peerless 700 tranny.  He'll be finishing up the drive train and engine soon.  Then comes the fine tuning...  We'll keep you posted!!

Chassis / Weight
« on: September 07, 2006, 06:28:19 pm »
Which mowers have the heaviest chassis?  We have a weight rule at our track (575 lbs for 9 + engines), but we are finding that adding weight causes too much damage to the frame, floor boards, etc.  Mine for example, we added well over 100 lbs to the left side to make weight.  My floor board is ready to fall off and the frame is getting weak.

Any opinions are greatly appreciated.
