Briggs Flathead / Re: 18hp Oppy running Alky (engine, intake and ignition)
« on: November 05, 2017, 11:52:02 am »
Haven't been on heymow in a long time, that said. Ignition for this doesn't cost a grand. Your looking in the wrong place. Look thru my old build and pictures if there still on here. 2 wire mag pickup, Chrysler ignition module and a gm 3.8 2 post coil will fire anything you feed it. As far as methanol your wasting your time. The ports suck in this engine. I know I've built several. Don't kill it with a ton of compression. Moderate lift with alot of duration will get you what you want. They aren't a big rpm engine.

George looking for info on 2bbl carbs. Price levels and what's done to them? Kohler preferred and the big block Kohler carb. Also looking g for the generac big block carb with the same throttle hookup as the kohler.

Looking for info on 2bbl carbs. Possible part numbers and sizes of butterflies and venturis. I know Briggs has some, Kohler has a couple different ones and generac has one or 2.

Briggs OHV & Vanguard / Re: EC Cheetah Cam Identification, from EC
« on: October 27, 2015, 09:27:35 am »
I do believe the "cheetah" was a grind from Mike at precision cams. If the piece ec sent is better or proven better is there a reason to be wanting the cheetah? If the cheetah is what is desired I would call precision cams unless ec has one.

Briggs Flathead / opposed twin lifter diameter.
« on: September 29, 2015, 10:07:35 pm »
I'm talking with Isky about a cam for an opposed. I do not have my full pressure lube horizontal yet in my hands. Can someone give me the head diameter of an opposed twin lifter.

In the pulling tractor world with the command vtwin when the engine starts producing 90lbft of torque output blocks aren't long living. Weather it's on a dyno or a tractor chassis.

That Hackman cam you mention is a very nice addition to your current engine. It will get you more rpm than your looking for and has a great powerband.

Kohler Engines / Re: Hi all, need info on Kohler interchanges
« on: February 28, 2015, 11:13:24 am »
Flywheels interchange. They are for the most part neutral balanced. The crank is the big issue. 14hp and 16hp have full round counter weights. 10 and 12 do not.

Most parts interchange. The crank will fit but won't work because it is no where near balanced for the 16hp rotating assembly. Bearing plate will fit. Cam is the same. Carb will fit but is small compared to what is normally on a 16hp. The 18 is an ohv not ohc.
