Thanks George.  Just reset valve lash..  It was way off but it is doing same thing..   Oil was brand new and looks cleans but seems a little runny.  What would cause gas to get into oil?  I had just put a new carb on it and was trying it out..  I noticed plug was very wet..
Thanks again
Gas in oil... :(

Briggs OHV & Vanguard / Motor issue
« on: November 23, 2014, 09:24:46 am »
Started briggs single grass cutter and it ran for a few seconds spitting and sputtering then died.  When I tried to restart it the motor turned over really slow like battery was dead or starter was hot..  Charged over night and went to try it and is doing same thing.  If I pull spark plug it spins right over..  Any ideas..  Not familiar with Intek singles at all..
Thanks

Thanks Tyler.  I will check into those.  Would really like to find something that could be removed for racing at other tracks but don't know how practical that would be. Obviously in order for it to work, we would have to require all drivers have one installed.   We may have to do something though because as we are finding out, it only takes one neighbor to create a ----storm.

I heated them with a torch and broke them loose with a socket hex.  It was tough though.
My very first experience with them I stripped them out and had to weld bolts to the top of them to get them off and then order new bolts.

Coffee Shop / Mufflers (not exhaust)
« on: March 26, 2014, 10:36:32 am »
I know I have read on here a few times about noise cancelling mufflers but I cant seem to locate it.  We have one of our local tracks that are possibly looking at running mufflers to keep the area neighbors happy. Even just knocking sound down just a little bit. Would really like to hear thoughts on this and ideas for a simple muffler that can be added and removed easily. I know mufflers are unheard of when it comes to racing but if it will help keep a track open then I would imagine we will do what we have to do.   Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Chassis / Re: Steering question

Really? I thought they were, just undesirable. Well, I guess I used up my one time a year being wrong early this year

Ed I am going to consider that a mulligan..  You now still have that "one time a year to be wrong" left still..
Use it wisely..   :P

Briggs OHV & Vanguard / Re: Vanny Sleeves
« on: February 15, 2014, 01:56:54 pm »
Thanks Tyler..   That's a little too rich for me.  We use to just heat them up and knock them out.  Never tried on one of these motors though.   Was hoping they sold the sleeve to save me from having to machine them.

If so any ideas on price?

Jim
It is basically a way to strengthen the cam from all the spring pressure we require for the rollers and high RPM's.  I have ran these types of cams for years with not one cam issue.  My billet cams are completely closed.  If you drill the hole you may lose cam integrity strength.  Most guys I know now all fill in the bottom at the least.  Of course you may want some advice from an expert which I am far from.
Good luck Jim.  8)
