Title: 16 hp twin question
Post by: MidMODrags on December 12, 2013, 10:41:53 pm
I have a 16 horse opposed twin horizontal shaft engine that is pressure lubed and it has a tapered shaft on it. I was wondering if a vertical engine that is pressure lubed as well would have the same crank shaft or if there is any difference in them at all? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

 Thanks

check e-bay, but make sure to check for oiler holes in the cranks journal areas before purchase...horizontal TRUE pressure lubes are rare.

What is the difference between the vertical and horizontal, other than the PTO length?
I turned a 46 pressure lube into a horizontal this year and ran it all summer in a twin engine
puller with 0 issues. On the rear engine I had the crank cut off and keyed to accept
my coupler setup.  Probably cheaper to get a crank, but if you can't find one you could
make it.

This is a true pressure lube engine i have had the pan off it has the oil pump and sump and everything like it should and i have come to find that they are pretty rare, but if i cant find a new crank i may just machine it and key it to make it work like ti need.
