Coffee Shop / Welding question
« on: August 22, 2013, 11:14:40 pm »
If I have some 1" square tubing and I slide some 3/4" square stock into it what would be a good way to secure the square stock into the tubing. I was thinking of drilling two 1/4" holes about a 1/2" apart and plug welding then grinding flush. Gonna do this on opposing sides of the tubing so it'll be four plug welds.

Briggs Flathead / need help with a 12hp briggs
« on: May 08, 2013, 06:19:53 pm »
I got me a racin mower but wanna make sure the motor is gonna run before I fool with it too much. I put a fresh battery in it from my yard mower and when you turn the key all you get is a loud buzzing sound from the coil. I pulled the starter off and hooked up my battery charger to it and it spins fine. When the starte is unhooked from its power supply the coil clicks like it's suppose to and I get power all the way opposed to when it is hooked up I only get power to the battery side of the coil. I really hate dealin with electrical stuff. Thanks in advance.

Coffee Shop / new guy with a few questions
« on: April 30, 2013, 06:27:08 pm »
I'm in the process of hunting for a mower to turn into a racer. Question I have is if I remove the governor will the motor still idle normaly? I'm not sure of what type of throtle selection I plan on going with yet. I worked as a small engine mechanic helper for a while several years ago but I didn't do a whole lot of work on the motors, mainly did seasonal tune ups and carb rebuilds. I'm gonna check out some books from the library to learn more about engines. Secondly I was wondering what was the benefit of polishing the heads? Is that something I could do at home? Thanks for the help.

Kohler Engines / Kohler motor help
« on: April 23, 2009, 04:24:47 pm »
I'll go ahead and appologize before hand but I need help to get my mower going before I have to rent a bush hog to mow the lawn. I've got a 25hp Kholer command motor. Model#CV25S, Spec#69511. I got the mower from a guy that lives down the road, he took it somewhere to have it worked on. Well it was some shade tree guy and he lost half the stuff for the mower. I've got the mower all back together but am missing the linkage for the choke. The way it is ontop of the motor is where the throtle cable and choke cable are mounted, the choke cable hooks up to a lever where the rest of the linkage should go to the carb but there is nothing there. I've searched the web and can't find the linkage I'm looking for. If it helps I'll post pics of what i'm talking about.
