A K341 is a 16 hp not an 18hp.

What mower are you going to  use that is horizontal shaft drive?

Running thats the problem! I dont want to move it farther out from the axle or else the geometry gets messed up.

Harley, I have thought about going "over" the axle and clearancing the green frame to make it work.

Pictures of what you guys are talking about would help.

Racing, I'm assuming you mean the stock steering setup????

I already have my ackerman by angling the arms on the spindles in. Still takes the same amount of travel whether they attach at one point or 2.

Just put the pulley lower than the frame tubes.

Heres my STX build.

I have been working on the steering for the better part of 2 months on my mower and its really getting frustrating. :bash:

It will turn one way, but the one arm hits the axle tube going the other way. Can I redo it to avoid this or do I need to cut a hole in the axle tube for the rod end to go in to? I cant angle the one arm that is hitting any more or the link to the steering shaft arm will get bound up because it is too close to being inline.
Full left:

Centered.

Everything is there for mockup, so ignore the rusty bolts and rod ends extended out of the arms too far.

Started cutting up the ATV exhaust to get around my front axle.

Will need a joint with the rear section for disassembly. Probaby somewheres in the straight section

Tires / Turf Master "tread direction" for Fronts
« on: April 14, 2010, 11:15:14 am »
I mounted up a set of turf master 13x6.5x6 tires this weekend and when looking at pictures today I noticed that the tread angles one way and both fronts angle the same way.

Anyone run them a certain way? Both the same, opposite, one direction over the other (for oval type of tracks)

Here is a picture of them mounted. The tread groves angle up and to the right on both tires.

Well, few more updates. Got some new tires for the front and mounted them up this weekend.

I have been really struggling where to get good tight bends for building an exhaust.

Found this pipe off I'm guessing an ATV in the junk bin at one of the local lawnmower dealers. Its 1 1/8" ID which will be great for right off the engine and a ways back.

They also had a mtd with headlights and no seat they said they would sell for $20...sounds like another racing mower in the future...

Hoping to get the steering done and have an exhaust built for an upcomming car show I will have the mower at.

Cam gear off a tooth or flywheel key sheared?

I would check the ignition timing with a light. There is a hole in the blower housing on the left side of the engine you shoot the light on. There is a TDC and mark 20 degrees before tdc on the flywheel.

I have owned 4 140s. My current one is a 74 with tripple hydraulics and headlights.

Sweet machine man. What width rims and tires front and back?

2" diameter will be kind of small to find. You may want to think about a smaller toothed gear and find a bearing to press into the bore. That will be my approach if the skateboard wheel idea in the other thead doesn't pan out.

Sounds good, I will likely keep it fixed and then just slot the brackets so it can be tightened ocationally. I'm using #40 chain.

Will be a fun lathe project, and I guess I have 4 wheels to try since a skateboard with 3 wheels is worthless anyways.

White is the ground to kill (kills the ignition when grounded) Black could be a carb solenoid, charing output, starter trigger wire.

Trace it back, does it go to the 3 pin just to the left of the white wire? If so its charging output (+12dc)

Thanks. Did you machine grooves in  it or put different bearings on?

You said yours was spring loaded vs fixed? Did you try it fixed and have problems?

Thanks
