Id like to see this thing in Action. I remember there was an oppy in an FXS out in Iowa a few years back. It looked pretty cool.  If i had time, I would love to try and figure out something like that in an FXS.

Tecumseh Engines / Re: Looking for Tecumseh V-Twin Rockers
« on: May 04, 2017, 08:19:35 pm »
I may have an unused set. They have the roller tips (the tips have lots of runout, thats how they came).  Not sure if you plan on leaving those solid tips or turning into rollers....  I did find a fix for them, involving a miniature sealed ball bearing and tiny bushings to accept the pin.  PM me.

I too, am in need of an exhaust valve 1/4"...  Not sure if anyone has a line on them.  The face is 1.305".
mine got bent as well, just kissed the valve and the guide SEEMS okay.  the seat has the smallest knick on it.
Its for the TVT 691 as well.  EC had done the heads.

Driveline / steel input and bevel in 800 series???

does anyone have information on what model of 800 series transaxles came with the 778153 and 778154 input and bevel steel gears?  I found Jerb's list of 700's, just no info on 800 series.

I was thinking about seeking out the john deere tractors from the 80's for starters...

Actually, redline is correct about the briggs single vs the tec single being identical.  the twin however, is rotated 90 degrees when you look at the mounting pattern in the sump vs the "front" of the motor.  I think you would have your crank in a slightly different spot.  Please correct me if I am wrong here.  I just remember trying to fit a tec twin on a jd 111 and remember that the mounting holes are in fact different.  I would have had to re-drill 3 of the four holes for mounting in the motor plate to accomodate the twin.....

Coffee Shop / Re: How to properly measure coil bind?
« on: March 01, 2014, 08:07:01 pm »
Thank you George.  Is there a point at which I need to shorten my pushrods in regards to material removed from the head getting cut down?  Not sure how much was taken off from whomever had this engine last.  Maybe like an angle of the pushrod relative to the rocker arm when the valve is at full lift being greater than some spec? I think I have a protractor somewhere, lol.

Coffee Shop / How to properly measure coil bind?
« on: February 28, 2014, 11:47:26 pm »
Hey guys, been reading around on the internet and I just need a little clarification on measuring coil bind.  At full lift, say, I can stick my feeler gauge between each of 3 coils (within a single spring), with two measuring .025" and one measuring .035".  Do I add up all these tolerances (measuring .085") and that is my coil bind spec?  Or is the spec the largest of the three individual measurements I am able to take with the feeler gauges?

Chassis / Re: Steering question

Can you use a rack and pinion on a prepared chassis?
did you have a specific rack in mind?  I wonder how you would account for ackerman?

Coffee Shop / hitch mounted mower hauler
« on: February 12, 2014, 09:30:33 pm »
Hey everyone,
My super ratty trailer is starting to scare even me...  So I was thinking about trying to save gas and improve driveability by using a hitch mounted mower hauler.  Do any of you have one that works well for you?  recommendations on the model if you went out and bought it?

This will be on the back of an s-10 or in an emergency, a RWD cutlass.  Frames on both vehicles are in good shape as far as rust goes.  The s-10 has very stiff springs in the rear, even with a mower in my bed, I still have a rake going on, so I am sure my springs can take the extra weight.  The Cutlass has air shocks in the back.

Your thoughts would be appreciated.

Coffee Shop / Re: light weight flywheel

When you let off the gas going into the corners, your mower will want to kick you around.  It's like applying the rear brakes.  It will be even more noticeable than what we have with the ARC flywheels.  You will have to apply a partial throttle while riding your rear brakes through the corners for a smooth transition back into the straights.  If not you will be prone to get sideways very easily.  Not a good scenario if you have a short wheelbase as it is.  What is your current wheelbase?  I remember it is longer than your original mower, which is a good thing

The titianium is the way to go. Mine falls on the floor often and never gets damaged.  BTW there is a needle grease fitting you need to hit every once in a while, just under the front snout of the gun for the front bearing.  The IR 231 is like the Nextel of guns.  It really hard to break that and they take a ton of abuse

Been using it for years. Love it. Call digatron and ask for Betty Stiritz tell her I sent you.
Thanks!

Coffee Shop / Digitron. Do you have recommendations?
« on: February 05, 2014, 08:12:09 pm »
Hey all.  I am considering getting a new digitron.  Have you guys ever used a DT52k RE2 unit?  It comes with two EGT probes, and does recording.  I think it also has a separate optional beacon you can use to get personal lap times.  What are your thoughts, or recommendations for this or a similar unit?  Thanks!

Coffee Shop / Re: Horizontal 42 opposed... Worth anything?
« on: November 03, 2013, 09:07:26 pm »
Thanks guys.  I have a vertical 42 pressure lube sitting in the garage with a scratched crank where the lower main seals rides, so it could donate some pressure lube components if it would swap.  I am guessing I would need to relocate the oil pick up screen and use the pan, crank and cam out of the vertical to convert it?  maybe come up with some sort of "sleeve n seal"  like in automotive apps to give the crank a new surface for the seal to ride on.
