Briggs OHV & Vanguard / Briggs 16hp opposed....Any good??

Are these good platforms to build and what are the pros/cons of this vs. a Kohler 22hp twin besides cubes. I have both and need to choose what to build. It is basically an AP chassis that I am starting with.

What do most use (cast,stamped,billet) and i know they need to be welded to the drum but does anyone have a pic of how they did it or a description??

I have a 19" flatty and will also be swapping a 40" kohler on for different events. What is the box and clutch that would work best and what do you all run?? Thanks.

Briggs Flathead / 19" flatty pushing oil out the breather lines......Any ideas??

New rings,hone,7/8 quart of oil and it is pushing nearly all of it out into the puke tank in 15 minites of running. It is ungoverned,and has a small precision cam and massaged walbro carb. Any ideas as to why this is happening??

Driveline / Belt won't slip when clutch is depressed.....

I had a 59" 5/8" V-belt on mower and it wouldn't slip so I went to a 61" and still won't slip even when pedal is pressed. The engine pulley is a cast bushed style 5.5", trans is stamped 5" and standard idler style throws slack in it. The 61" belt is long enough that it will actually fall off when clutch is pressed but the belt won't slip the engine pulley.

Any ideas??

This particular engine has arc rod,bobweights,piston,flywheel,ect. What is a good starting setting for bowl screw and top screw?? It is a G-Team carb and not too impressed with it. :bash:

Well as many of us are quite far apart and do not see eachother regularly or ever face to face I thought it would be a good idea to start a Name to face thread...

Here is a pic of the stainless header pipe and engine sitting in the chassis. I was trying to keep a simple,clean and nice build here.

Are they any good?? I have a model 531 I believe it is a 4 speed. Are they any good and as reliable as the 700's...???
What can be done to toughen them up??

Not just Mowchines but anything motorsports related.

Me, I would build another 67 nova with an all aluminum LSX, procharger F-3 on alky and a liberty clutchless 5 speed on stock style suspention and run it in TT5 or 275 drag radial.  (Only difference from my last 67 is it had a 598" BBC lol)

A cruiser would be a 55 chevy straight axle,satin black,blown alky hemi,lenco 4 speed,4.56 gear and period correct tires/wheels.

72 chevelle ss red with black or white stripes, EFI BBC,th 400,12 bolt with 3.73's and a bench seat for comfort.

What do you all use for a tough chassis paint?? I used hammerite and it came out like Hot tar!! I am going to redo it I believe and wanted to know what you are all using.
