Coffee Shop / Fuel tanks
« on: May 13, 2014, 11:25:58 am »
What is everyone using for fuel tanks, the standard mtd tank will no longer work for me. The tecumseh 35584 tank looks nice but I'm not sure if 2 quarts will be enough or not. But i need something around that size

« on: May 06, 2013, 01:15:36 pm »
Is there a better way mount stock rocker arms onto the head instead of using the stock briggs setup?

Chassis / Bumper Question
« on: February 06, 2013, 07:01:51 pm »
I know there is a max width for bumpers and height requirements on them, but is there a minimum width?  I want to run a bumper but I want its overall width to be inside of the rear tires.  Would this be legal in the US and ARMA?

Briggs OHV & Vanguard / EC Carb Issues
« on: August 13, 2011, 04:27:28 pm »
First off I'm not new to this carb... My problems are, it runs great and has throttle response out of the corners when the idle adjustment needle is almost all the way out, but then it will not idle its either at 1000 or 3000 it has no happy medium with the thing.  Now if I adjust the idle needle, it idles OK but then it spits and sputters out of the corners.

I also understand that its a race motor and they are not supposed to idle but this is a little ridiculous...especially since the carb has been cleaned at least 4 times this season

If it matters its on a build OHV single

I also had a new EC carb on it that did the same thing

Briggs OHV & Vanguard / Fuel Pump Pulse
« on: March 29, 2011, 12:56:57 pm »
I am switching over to a new style of intake for my OHV single.  It no longer has the typical barb where the air box assembly bolts to it, so I cannot drill and tap it for a pulse line for my fuel pump.  Where is a good place to get a pulse preferably off of the block?

I have read on here and Brian Millers Pulling site about static balancing.  Could someone be able to explain it, on how to check on crank?

Briggs OHV & Vanguard / Polishing Ports
« on: March 18, 2010, 11:50:15 am »
First off yes I searched, but I didn't find what i was looking for.  What I'm looking for is what is the best and most effective way you guys polish the ports to get a mirror finish?  What is all required to be done to achieve that high of a polish?

Briggs OHV & Vanguard / RPM Problem
« on: May 13, 2009, 09:59:53 am »
I know that there really is no need to turn over 6000 on a 31 OHV single but on my motor all it turns is 5990 or 6010 consistently. When the motor get into that range it just stops and wont rev any higher, I have no idea what is causing this, it has a new coil on it and the alcohol high flow fuel pump on it; not sure what im missing?

Its a 31 OHV single, dad was working on rebuilding the motor this weekend and noticed that the intake valve is blue. Motor has roughly 15 races on it had all new valves and valve job done before it was built, other then running too hot what can cause this issue and should it be replaced?

« on: April 30, 2008, 06:19:51 pm »
I know that your sopposed to run 3rd gear in the 700 jw what about 4th and 5th? Do you just leave then in the tranny or remove them and if they are removed what do you do to take the place of the gears????

« on: February 03, 2008, 08:39:20 pm »
Ik that there is posts about the gearing on the 700's but i dont want to run a 8 in pully to a 5 because then you are really spinning up that tranny.  Im looking at running a 5 to a 5 on both my imow and my c/p and was wondering if anyone could get me in the ballpark so i have something to work off of.

Briggs OHV & Vanguard / Piston Choices
« on: December 13, 2007, 05:19:10 pm »
I am building a c/p for next year and just pulled apart a newer 31 inteck which had a much smaller lighter piston compared to the standard briggs piston.  Just wondering if its strong enough to run up in the rpm range or just stick to the standard briggs piston
