Post by: crazycraftsman on January 15, 2014, 12:22:25 am
Looking to see if anyone has the part number for the input shaft that takes 4 retaining rings,is full splined were pinion splines on ,has larger half moon key and is the longer length.I,ve looked on here and a few parts supplyers but no pictures and list 3 different part numbers.Changing the shorter 350 shaft to a 400 input shaft. Thanks for any help.

You probably wont find any new Peerless parts out there for these things. The "long" input shafts I alwaysa had a hold of were only an 1/8" longer, so really not worth messing with...I always added snap ring grooves to a 350 shaft or robbed one from a 600 depending on what bottom bearing/seal combo I was using.

Just tore all my parts 600 transaxles (5) the one shaft I was looking for and my luck worn out. The one 350 I got the key slot in shaft starts we're the seal would ride. Didn't ever have seal , had sealed bearing.the only ratio set is first gear the same as 400-350 , shifter forks, crown and pinion .the other shafts are threaded with nut to hold pull or bolt on ,stepped down to 1/2 and small key. Do you weld a little to fill key hole a bit them lathe them to get a proper seal? running two 400's right now and need one more for the ap mower. Got all bearings coming, first 350. Thanks for any info

All the 600 stuff I stumbled across was already 5/8" and the key slot down towards the bottom. You could just run a sealed bottom bearing and your input shaft will work

Thanks for the reply. They are all 5/8 but where pulley goes on steps down to 1/2 inch on some of them. I don't like leaks so I'm going to weld and Lethe . Thanks

Only need to weld 3/16 of key way, very little.could maybe jb weld it. Just enough for seal to seal. It,s going on a low hp racer. Stock 8 hp flathead, mini.   :)
