And none of the grinds I described in the highlighted string are in my Tecs.
Ya gotta have big boy pants like Ed's to get one of those cams.

Why do I want the 1/4in valve stems, vs the 5/16 valve stems, I would think the 5/16 would be stronger?
-
weight, the 5/16 are heavier the heavier the valve train the more spring you need to control the valves from floating at higher rpm.
-
Thanks for the explanation, How high of rpm do the 5/16 valves start to float at? Just cause if I'm not turning that high of rpm I'm not gonna put new valves at the top of the parts list
-
Dends on cam and how much spring your using. Cam ramp rate versus spring tension which is the key factor ( springs that is) will determine float rpm. So hard to say not knowing what springs you gonna use.
-
I called precision and I'll probably get there .410 cam

Lighter valves is like free horsepower,it takes power to move the valves, the lighter the better, and lighter weight springs save waisting lots of power, lighter springs make less heat too so the oil will be cooler
