USLMRA Races / Hasings MI Oct 19 MILMRA

Michigan lawn mower racing association and Yankee Zephyr Racing Productions are sorry to announce that due to weather the mower races will be cancelled this year.  We have been getting rain and more is expected throughout the week, not allowing the track to get set up and dried out.

Cylinder 1 is the one closest to the flywheel.  Cylinder number 2 is farther away.  If you look at the flywheel the way it rotates it comes to cylinder 2 then 1.  Stock timing would put the flywheel magnet centered over the breather cover when cylinder 2 is at top dead center.

Oh, and for all you Canadians who fell in love with Steak & Shake down in Battle Creek, there is one 2 miles from the Delta Plex on M-37  :)

Modified engines need at least a scatter shield, billet flywheel is preferred.

Thinking about bringing 2 mowers up for the march show. Both are centrifugal clutch setups. One with a jack shaft and live axle the other has a ragb and live axle setup. What class would they fall in?

Probably the middle class, it really goes by lap times posted.  If you're quick enough you can run with the twins.  The mod twins post lap times of aournd 7.5 secconds.

If the last 2 where any indication, this last indoor event for 2011/2012 season should be lots of fun.  Hope to see more of you there.

The Problen at the (All american) was that their were to Many ROOKIES ON THE TRACK.
Some Guys Had Never Been In That Class.
If that is the case, the USLMRA license SHOULD prevent that, is that not what it's for?  One Open race shouldn't dictate the way the whole series is run.

We do want to reserve the rights to do so if needed.

Then may I make a suggestion that the rule book in the future reads it as optional.

Here's my perspective.  It upsets me at 2 levels:

1.  As a participant in the class having a potential small mishap cost a shot at running a points feature, I will really think hard about how far I am willing to go for a race.  We need to have a fair way to narrow the field, a single elimination heat I do not believe is.

2.  As a venue, knowing racers such as myself will be wieghing this possiblity and possibly choosing not to come to my race because they may not get a chance to run the feature, therefore limiting my show.  This is a class my spectators want to see and I want it as full as possible.

I don't mind the possibility of limiting the number of racers if it is not safe, but I also don't want it set in stone before anyone even gets to the track.  The way the rule reads, its set in stone.  It needs to be communicated that it is not moving forward, please.

Ummm.  Let me get this straight

U) Due to the extreme speeds and the width of the New FXS & FXT classes No more than 8 of thesemowers will be allowed to race at one time. An A Main and B Main race may be used to determine thefeature finalist.

I'm going to drive 20+ hours down to this race.  If there is more than 8 of these machines there, and heaven forbid I have a problem in the heat, I may not make the feature?

You have the MOST EXPERIENCED drivers, on the machines with the lowest center fo gravity, the widest stance, and the most protection, and you're going to limit it to 8 drivers? :bash:  Why are we so backwords?

You cannot say it's the speed.  The FXT's are not THAT much faster than the BP's, I ran my BP near the top of all of the open events I attended last year, and I feel it was a heck of a lot less safe than the FXT I have minimual laps on yet.  If you ask me you guys have it backwords.  The tradtional prepared machines need to have a lower limit on the number of machines and the FXS/FXT machines should have a higher allowance.  And it should depend on the track, not the rule book.

My other beef is the lack of practice time.  We need to start scheduling these races so we can get our transponder checks in AND make more than 5 laps of practice in.  No other racing event I've participated in sends people out to race with so little preparation.  Especially when we are doing this just for fun and expected to travel around the country like this.  Not all of us have a practice track in our back yard we can use our machines on.

I have been bent on going down to FL and race a sanctioned race ever since the FL/GA weekend we had in 05, but after reading the above rule, I don't know how badly I want to spend the travel time.

It's great to see this film is getting close to the finish line.  I know this movie will be great exposure for our HD cause, but I also think it will be nothing but positive for the racing community as a whole.  Looking at the kicksarter program, Mike is very close to getting the much needed funding to finish the editing process.  As of right now he has $2135 of the $2500 goal.  Keep in mind if he does not reach this goal in 8 more days, he gets none of it.  Any small pledge anyone can make to help him reach this goal will help.  $5 each for 73 people is all it will take.

One of the theme's of Mike's film is how much of a generous, tight knit community we as mower racers are.  Let's pull together and help make this flick happen.  It will be a good thing for all of us.
