I THINK THAT WAS AN OLD CAST IRON FLAT HEAD. NOTHING INTERCHAGES WITH IT THAT I KNOW OF.

If the crankshaft passes through the original hole in the frame, you can position it for/aft or side to side and turn it any which way you choose. As long as it goes through the original hole.

I know a guy who wasted three inteks like this. Finally figured out the motor plate was flexing, or too light, or something of that nature.

Looks like block stressed from un even mounting plate.
Had one do the same thing,from uneven mounting plate.

BENT OR TWEAKED ENGINE PLATE WILL DO THIS. TIGHTENING AN ENGINE DOWN TO A BENT OR WAVEY PLATE WILL PUT UNDO STRESS ON THE BLOCK. ADD VIBRATION AND BOOM.

778153 IS STEEL BUT ITS SHORTER. IT USES A THRUST BEARING AND WASHERS UNDER IT.NOT SURE ABOUT THE 778176.
