Briggs OHV & Vanguard / intek head swap

I was asked if heads from a 20hp intek would fit on a 24hp intek..
I would think the 24hp would have larger valves or something , what do you guys think?

There is a guy at my work that popped his eye ball bag out with a pair of learthermans when he was doing some drum brakes on a 78 chevy 1/2 ton..
He told me that your body only makes this fuild once in your life and that they had to inject his eye bag with some dye or somthing to fill the void.
We call'm hawk eye now and it's hard to to look at'm and talk....

I got a norma star clutch from HEETERS.COM and they show/have no other springs except the one that comes with it (2500).
I think thats a little high for me at this time, can I use springs from a mini cup?.
1.stock cam
2.17t motor ,58t jack in, 18t jack out, 44t drive, 15x8x8 rear tires.....
3.16hp vanny , arc flywheel, rev kit , lmt 56..just to add some info...

From what Ive read on their web site is the part #s for the springs are the same from the enforcer , star , and the mini cup but the engagement is diffrent . Is that due to diffrent wieght of the shoes and or inner dia of the drum...??

I realized after my post, I was thinking side cover but meant block/mag side....
I was thinking I could change the bearing on the mag side but if their diffrent diameters oh well on that idea.

I have a 16 hp vanguard horazontal m#303447 t#1131-31 c#06032911.
I had cut my old crank to fit a clutch then chaned to a new clutch and then needed what I had cut off (live and learn).
My old crank had a deep grove cut into it for oiling on the fly wheel side, I found another crank for the same motor but it has no grove.
I know there is a new and old style crank , but when I look at the bearing in the side cover it has a grove in it for oiling also,
So my questions are .

1.could I have a side cover for the smooth style and just didnt know untill now
2.would the grove in the bearing be enough to oil the smooth stlye crank.
3.could the smooth style crank have the grove machined into it
4.if all all above fails , anyone got a GOOD used crank....

The motor was put together with parts from mulitable motors thats why iam unsure of the side cover bearing grove thing.
I realy need to fix this fast , everything is done and ready to go but for the finale assemble of the motor and I have to be at a pr thing on the 25th of june , so Iam getting
a little antsy .....thanks guys for any input..wes

Chassis / Re: battery placement..
« on: April 30, 2011, 02:27:42 pm »
I like the idea of puting the battery behind the seat I'll do that , and put the gas tank under the fenders  infront of the l/r tire ..That sounds like it would work....
Yeah having gas spill out inbetween the legs doesn't sound fun......
Now with the battery that far back should I run a lagrer batt cable? I would think so.

Chassis / battery placement..

I've put together a modified twin (horazontal) mower almost just like rceagle1a build but I run a jack shaft.
I do not have any real space to place the battery or gas tank that I feel is safe or ok .I was thinking of running the battery on the left hand side just infront of the l/r tire , I haven't come across anyone needing to do this so I thought I would ask what you guys think of it.
That would fee up the space under/foreward of the seat and just behind the jackshaft to run the gas tank...

Briggs OHV & Vanguard / remote oil filter
« on: April 10, 2011, 11:38:09 am »
I was givin 2 16 hp verttical vanguards ,1 is older and 1 is newer. The newer 1 has a oil filter reloction adapter w/ steel braided line about 14" long.
I was thinking of useing it so changing the filter would be a little easyer but I havn't heard anything about them on here.

And just to be clear a 30ci vertical vanny crank can not be used in a 30ci horizontal vanny...

Briggs OHV & Vanguard / 16 hp vanguard carb mod's
« on: April 02, 2011, 11:02:10 pm »
I have a 16 hp vanguard horazontal #404337 signal carb.
I was thinking of honing out the center of the carb so it has a straight smooth flow, Iam not sure if this would help or make problems .
The brass tube that the gas comes out of would need to be changed, the jet drilled out a little bigger and made adjustable, not sure about the low side jet.
The motor is not supper built , just open exhuast, billit flywheel and no governer.I will be adding a cam next year . Again this is just somthing Iam thinking about and thought I would ask everyone what they think about the Idea....
