Title: Briggs opposed twin pressure lube
Post by: joelwcassell on April 13, 2018, 07:53:30 pm
Hi I just bought a 18 hp opposed twin horizontal engine with pressure lube-oil filter.  Two mounting tabs were broken off the base.  Does anyone know the difference between the the base or sump between a pressure and splash lube engine?  If they interchange great, but if not guess I will have to get it welded.

You'll have to have it welded,as the oil pump is in sump and there is no oil pump in splash lube

Thanks - I figured they were different.  I havent taken it apart yet, but I assume yes it has a screen/pickup in the sump.   I guess I will plan on getting it welded.  I assume that the material is cast aluminum?

If it has a screen in the sump I have a good used pan. If you are interested PM me.

There are 3 different styles of pans that all bolt on, you have to take it off and look.
