Was searching the web for other goodies and stumbled upon this page detailing build specs for Kohler engines for garden tractor pulling; thought some of you guys might find it of interest since the topic of Kohler builds surfaces on occasion around here.
The page appears to contain a LOT of great information on Kohler engine builds, along with a good many Kohler engine specs! Worthy enough, I felt it should be stickied here at the top of the Kohler build section anyhow, so I did!

Mowdak1,
Thats also where you can buy parts for a igntion like Don G. uses.
Also very good info like you said..... You will find alot of intresting things on that site.
-
I also have a puller tractor to go with the racer I'm building and I have found a ton of good info for modding my Kohler on that site..
My KOhler in my puller is a VERY stepped on K181 with carb work I learned at Brain Millers site...

can anyone tell me stock valve lengths for kohler magnum 18 thank you
-
Opposed or Single?
-
opposed,i think , magnum 18 horizontal my spec #is 25494 i just rebuilt it. new piston rod oil pump my valve gap is a little big i have searched for info but can find none thank you i really appreciate your help
-
Most Kohler valves can be set to 0.010" intake and 0.012-0.014" ex. depending if you are mowing grass or pulling with it.
-
i think my valves have been ground to much, im looking for actual length of the valves i have repair manual ,but doesnt tell stock length thanks again
-
Unless the valves were ground down on the stems then the overall length of your valves should not have changed.

I'm thinking about trying to bulid a Kohler this yearand was wanting to know how do you to tell Cubic Inches?
-
Bore X Stroke
-
Well I was looking for something like a code or model number that would help, that wway if I find one some where I'd know the Ci with out tearing it down. Some thing like the way Briggs are 1st two digits = Ci.
-
I can't help you there, don't know too much about those Kohlers.

I'm thinking about trying to bulid a Kohler this yearand was wanting to know how do you to tell Cubic Inches?
here is the formula i use number of cylinders X .7854 X bore squared X stroke = displacement

Here is the link i use ................ http://samson-power.com/65afx/cubic_inch_calculator.htm

hey i have a 14 hp single cindler kohler and in the bowl theres the back fire sensor (i think thats what it is) and i think thats whats y its not runing so is there any way i can just take it out and plug it with something or what i dont realy want one because thats just one more thing that can go wrong
-
are you talking carb bowl?? that could be a fuel shutoff like the briggs has, you can take it off or you have to apply 12 volts to it to allow fuel flow through the carb,
-
ok thanks. yes in the carb bowl i was wondering if it went though a reasestor and lowared the voltage or if it ran the 12 v. but i will try and hook it straight to my battery and so if that fixes it but thank u ver much
-
It's an "Anti-After fire solenoid", and yeah you can just plug the hole, it doesn't need to be there.
-
Or take it out and cut the plunger off.
-
Solder a jam nut inside the bowl, would make a handy drain.
Ok, that was a bad idea..I removed it. Sorry
-
LOL there you go!
