« on: April 01, 2012, 09:06:51 am »
Hey all, I got a question about setting my flywheel timing. I have a 28 ci flatty with billet lifters dominator carb and a 246 cam all from EC. My question is what is the recomended advance for this cam to run at  the top of its game. I have the engine running pretty well right now but I can always use a bit of info if it will run better.

Briggs OHV & Vanguard / v twin wiring
« on: December 22, 2011, 06:54:02 pm »
I got my hands on a 20 hp briggs intek twin. I got it all cleaned up and on a frame but the wiring was missing. I came to heymow and found the wiring diagram for the 12hp flattie I am more familiar with. SO i got it wired like that I just spliced the 2 coil wires together after the diode and ran it as I would a flattie. Now I know there has gotta be somthing wrong cause that did not work. I really dont know about wiring to much... Also what do I do with the regulator thing???? I am going to keep looking but any shortcuts would be much appreciated.
Thanks and MERRY CHRISTMAS.

Briggs OHV & Vanguard / Governor removal 20 hp briggs intek
« on: October 11, 2011, 01:26:25 pm »
I have not yet cracked this egg open, I was wondering if the procedure for removal was the same as it is for a 12hp or if I just remove the governor arm on the outside of the motor. This is a pressure lube unit.

Briggs Flathead / little info please
« on: July 21, 2011, 06:50:47 am »
Hi I have a walbro carb with a rubber seat in it. I want to put the brass inlet seat in it so I can run a fuel pump. Apparently I can do this but I need to machine some aluminum from the seat hole. Dose anyone have an Idea on hoe much? I was thinking that I would mark where the stock seat was measure the new seat and install it so the bottom is in the marked position. Sound good? or not? help please I gotta race sunday.

Briggs Flathead / carb help
« on: July 19, 2011, 05:46:09 pm »
Hey all its been awhile since my last post. I ran my first race with my mower this past weekend and had a blast. Gotta say thanks to the NNYLMR for hosting a great race. That bieng said I do need a bit of advice. I kept having to keep her running with the throttle at speed and I figured it was because I needed a fuel pump. I have since installed that and ordered the needle valve and seat. BUT I have the older style walbro carb which has a rubber seat. I was told by Superman via Tony I could machine my carb and make it so the seat would work. So I guess my question is dose anyone have any insight on how to do this? I do have machine shop capabilities (Bridgeport, drillpress, & lathe). thank you all.

Briggs Flathead / Valve seats
« on: May 16, 2011, 07:18:51 pm »
anyone have any clue what the biggest I can safely go when cutting for new valves. I stumbled onto a guy who is gonna teach me how to recut my head and put larger seats into an 12hp block. We are racers in the S/P class and have a motor in my racer for racing. We were just wondering if you guys would share some info for another motor in a different class.

Chassis / foot hold
« on: May 14, 2011, 11:09:32 am »
Hey all, I was wondering if I can add a foot hold to the right side of my footboard to give me a bit of push when I am cornering. I am a little fella so when I bounce I go anywhere. Just wondering if it was legal for ARMA S/P class?

Chassis / Neoprene bushings
« on: May 11, 2011, 12:10:30 am »
Hey all, I got my front end in my mower the other day and I decided to use neoprene bushings for spacers to get my desired width. I was just wondering what you guys thought about this idea. I think it will work but I may want to put some steel washers on the outside of the neoprene just to get them to last. Input good or other would be greatly apreciated.

Other Interesting Builds / 1960-61 wheelhorse refurb
« on: April 22, 2011, 10:55:56 pm »
My boss and I were pullin a bunch of his old tractors out and getting them ready for the summer. On one side of the barn is where he keeps his project tractors all like 1965 and older but i noticed this little wheelhorse and instantly thought racer. But he saw that in my eyes and said no but I could pull it out and get her goin if I wanted. About 10 minutes later I was runnin it around the yard. I have since brought it into the garage and started the tear down process. I gotta do a little metalwork to the front end and pull the tranny apart as it only has 2nd and third no reverse and 1st at this time. but it should be cool, and a bit different. by the way it has a little 4hp wisconsin robin motor on her.

Coffee Shop / bumper material
« on: March 25, 2011, 10:47:56 pm »
I was wondering if it is legal to make my bumpers out of aluminum tube. I read in the ARMA rules and it say it must be made out of 3/4" or 1" tube but it dose not specify  what materials to use. I know you all probably use steel or conduit but I have Al available and a builder willing to do it up for me for the low price of free. What you guys think.

Coffee Shop / Body work
« on: March 12, 2011, 01:37:10 pm »
Well all I am getting ready to finish upall of the welding then its off to the paint shop. I am going with white hood and fenders, with a green (not JD) stripe, on a black frame. The mower started life as a 91 craftsman 12.5hp that was my belated grandpas. The donor mower was a early 80's agway, that is where I got the filler strips I needed. The deck halves were on an old cub cadet. I think I have about all the major manufacturers covered with this one lol. I'll try to sit down and get my pics of her out. Her name is Ester, after gramm.
