Mowmentum Magazine / Thank You all and Merry Christmas
« on: December 24, 2010, 10:09:49 am »
I don't dive too much into my personal life on here, but it's with a sincere thank you that I tell this story. The year of 2010 is one in which I grew a lot. Three months into the year, I was fired for standing on what I believed in. What followed was two months of wading through cow castings and fixing things others broke. I got back into the newspaper field, but for a part time job and lower pay than the dairy. I went to work at Tractor Supply Company part time, and added another job as a radio show host on Friday nights during football and basketball seasons. All this time I've continued Mowmentum (although I'm still behind almost a month now) and even published a calendar for 2011. My wife and I were concerned because even though our phones were always on the verge of getting shut off, we always managed to keep them on and food in our kids' bellies. So in mid November, I put together a calendar, sold it for more than I should have, and prayed. The response to the calendar was overwhelming. It was the best month I've ever had, and you're to thank. When magcloud deposited my November money, it was for $285 dollars. Most months, my profit from the magazine is around $100. Each month my wife asks why I continue to put time into the magazine, and I always tell her it takes time. Now, $285 dollars may not seem like much, but that deposit was more than I make a month at TSC and the radio combined. Thank you to all who have supported Mowmentum. Whether it was with a purchase or just moral support, you all helped the Turner family celebrate Christmas with the traditional presents. Now we can enjoy His presence all the more knowing that another Christmas miracle came true. Hug your children, your spouses or parents. It is the season of miracles.

Sincerely,

Aaron

If I pay someone $10/hour, and it takes a half hour to round up 20 parts, then I lost $5 as a manager. But then again, I got canned from my management job in April. So I must look at things awkwardly. On the other hand, though, I look at it as a customer service to offer good rates. I can see both sides.

The beautiful thing about the English language, both spoken and written, is the ability to read or hear what was said. I don't worry about postings on message boards. I like way folks sound out their words, much like Mark Twain did in most of his literature. Some of the smartest guys I know can't spell a lick, but can tune a carburetor or diagnose what's going on with a motor just by feeling the exhaust temp. But then again, these are the same guys that put their finger on a weld right after they take the stick off.  :bash: I say type away and let the cyphering begin. Just my opinion as one who likes to hear and read the different dialects across our states (and Canada).

What's the weather like down there in February? Can it compete with single digits and ice?

Mowmentum Magazine / Re: Black Friday sale: 50 percent off

Heard magcloud was down. Got this email from magcloud:We're sorry you've had trouble ordering.

We've seen an exceptionally positive response to our 50% off sale and it caused some web site overloading which we have remedied.  You may need to close down all open browser windows but then you should be able to open a new browser and successfully place your order.

We've also extended the sale an extra hour so it will now end at 1pm Pacific.

Reminder bump. Sale starts in a couple hours and runs until noon. I've seen 25 percent off sales, but not 50 percent!

It sure is. Everything on magcloud. I wish magcloud would let we publishers know when they're going to have a sale. I would have posted that with the original link.  the price on Friday will be below my original cost. It's a good deal
