(This is a test project of mine)
do at own risk!!
I pull 8 hp briggs motors and as everyone knows the old style carbs are junk for pulling however it is easy to bolt on a new style carb. using a intake either factory or aftermarket or homemade. I like to try to find a better mouse trap so here goes.
I have learned that if you take a single wire oxygen sensor (for a car) and install on you exhaust pipe you can take a multimeter and attach it to you sensor and set your carburator so it will not lean out at high rpms. You dont have hook up and power because it will create it own output voltage. based on my test at full throttle my meter will show .400 mv or 2 volts dc. which converts over to a 14-7 fuel air mixture. again you can read up on this as I did it seems to help out setting the carb. this way you dont have to guess and hope your carb is set right you can even check your adjustment at the track and based on air temps outside you know your carb is set right and wont lean out or be too rich.
