ya it put down 272 hp at the wheels and it was VERY de tuned because of the cracked heads and that 272 was a 2nd gear pull as we could not get the car to stay in 3rd (1:1).  its rated at 280 at the crank stock and with a good power tune would very easley be in the 350+ WHP range.

The T/A has low gears in it but he is not sure how low but he is in 2nd great by the 60' mark and I think it has headders on it.  I forgot to mention the bonneville is supercharged and built the cam is 526/530 lift and 212/220 dur with 116 LSA it had headers a tune and a built trans with lower gears from 2.96 stock to 3.69 now.  It has 255/50r16 nitto 555r tires that just spin.  My boss beat me out of the hole but I walked him down hard and ran 8.4 to his 8.2 in the 1/8th mile.

I have a question my boss took his trans am to the drag strip and I meet him there in our fwd v6 bonneville and I beat him pretty bad. Was that a good thing that I showed him that I can build a motor or is it bad that I beat my boss?

He had a 76 T/A with the 400 in it we have a bonneville with a 3.8 (231) in it.

Ya so far I love it except for the snakes I pulled up a lawnboy push mower to rob some parts from and a 3 foot black snake came out from around the pull starter. Not only do I get to work on mowers but the boss has a few toy cars to play with as well.  We are also a cycle shop stop we get in bikes and 4 wheelers to work on too.  One of my first jobs was replacing a set of rockers on a 194? Cushman crusier that had a vangaurd motor on it.

So i have been looking for a job for some time and i finely found one at a lawn mower shop of all places.  Their are so many "junk" mowers setting out back its not even funny i just want to bring them all home. Their are 2 old wheel horse mowers and a cub cadet that i really want but he wont let them go he says he plans on restoring them and keeping them for him self. Then their is this nice looking 700 trans setting on the shelf but i think he would notice it missing. This place has been a mower shop since 1987 so yal can imagine what might be setting out in the yard. We are living with my inlaws right now and as soon as we find a place of our own I think i might be able to talk the owner out of a few mowers to bring home and play with. I plan on getting a few random yard pics to post up but i keep forgetting to do so while I'm there.

« on: February 06, 2011, 06:27:04 pm »
this is prob not the right place for this but im wondering if their are any pulling tracks and or clubs here in central florida area?  I'm just wanting to get into some sort of mower sport and the only mower race track ive found in florida only races 4 times a year and thats not enough for me to build a race mower.

welcome to the forum the motor you have is known as a briggs flatty 28 it is pretty much the chevy 350 in the mower racing world.  It almost seams everyone and their brother makes a part to make that motor go fast.  The flat heads are much easer to build than the OHV motors and seem to be farley easy to pull power out of.

flyen bunch in jelious I'm not sure what kinda mower your tow mower is but it looks like a beast and I want it!  My trailer started out just like yours but the box got all bent up so we used the tung and axle from in and built a flat bed for it from wood.

The tow mower is stock all I have done to it is remove the deck so chill.  I was in the back yard working on my race mower and the neighbor comes over and says he has a old mower he dont want anymore and asks me if i want it.  Sight un seen I put the trailer on the tow mower and go to get it and he shows me what he has and I load it up and take off with it.  Their is not much to it but maybe a buldable frame the 15hp OHV motor is pretty much trash and it has a realy weard rear end set up in it.  Never the less its some more parts I can use I guess.

If you look close in the top pic you can see the back of the race mower sticking up in the air it just looks like a black box sticking up.
Just thought I would show my parts hauler and the parts it hauled.

Any luck that the OHV cam might work in the flatty block? I plan on pulling the motors apart in about a week or so as soon as I get my big huskie "on the road" right now I have the trans axle torn down and I'm working on a fozzy locker for it.  Once I get the axle finished up and re mounted I still have to build a throttle pedal for it and rebuild the carb and hope it runs.  This is the mower that has the 42 oppy on it that I've been asking questions about it should be a fun little ride and best part about it was it was free from my father in laws back yard.

Driveline / Re: Reverse chain
« on: January 25, 2011, 06:41:07 pm »
Not trying to thread jack here but I like having reverse so if I leave the chain in and it does break will it just lay there till i take it out or will it get caught in the other gears and FUBAR the rest of the trans?  Could another option be to find a stronger chain or is it a odd ball chain?  I know TSC has some hardened drive chain in a few select sizes so could that be a viable option?

I think Ill just leave the cam alone then the billet flywheel is getting a bit out of my price range for now so I think Ill just stick with the rod/piston swap and maybe massage the ports a little.  Then my next step will be to fab up a better exhaust so I can get rid of the stock coffee can muffler/carb heater.

I assume you mean a cam grinder right or can this be done on a backyard bench grinder?  If it can be done on a bench grinder where can I find more info on this?  Dremmel work I can do I've already done 2 sets of automotive heads and pulled some power out of them.  I might even see if I can come up with a way to make a plate to run my plastic OHV intake and carb on my flatty.

big al 202 so far with the things that im doing no rules are being broken
