if it has a pcv valve for it, that may be the problem. if it breathes from the valve cover then its probably time for rings.

probably a 1 to 1 ratio on the pulleys. like a 5 to a 5 would get you about right with that set up and tires.

if the sleeve is thick enough, should be no problem, i like to use the cool bore engines, dont have to pull a sleeve before you bore it.

do some searches for exhaust pipes. there has been several topics on this.

your local machine shop can do the work, they prefer to have the piston and also the crank to make setup easier. after you bore it, you will need to buy an arc billet rod. the wristpin location of the avs piston is in a different location than the flatty piston.

i run 5/8" heims because my kingpin is 5/8 for the cart spindles on mine. i drilled straight thru and use a lock nut on each side of my plate.

last known flathead year that i have seen was '04. it was a 13 1/2hp. i also bought a shortblock from briggs in '02. i have seen ohv's with date stamped as far back as '97. if that gives you a better idea.

you can use a 3 with a 6 pulley but if you increase your motor pulley you would need to increase rear. 2:1 ratio is about max that i have seen and belt still survive.
