I run regular tranny with shifter on side of dash no clutch with  spring loaded tensioner on belt if have to power stop throws belt off    I only use 1st 3rd and 5th    real slow in 1st real fast in 5th 3rd gear good for pacing since we do rolling start in winfield la

we rebuild lots of startes here at the shop on the twin cyl the top bushing is bad about egg shaping and when it gets hot it opens up a lil bit more you only have about a 1/8 of an inch between the magnets and the armature and it will make the starter drag you can get bushings and parts at most starter an alt. repair places will save you a lot of money in long run

(Swingsets) the bars on the rocking swing are perfect 1 inch od and the have 45 bend already in them and i also use some of the pipe off of othe mowers like craftmans that have the muffler on the bottom in the front get some real good 90 bends from them and a flange to boot also spent a lil extra and bought jigs for friend at local muffler shop only about 80 bucks wrote off on taxs as tools for shop

Tires / Tubes/NoTubes
« on: December 04, 2006, 02:00:43 am »
This is my two cents  o tubes in tires (If you are going to run faster than 15mph it would be safer to tube a tire have friend now who is 1 inch shorter and cannot walk because of tire/rim seperation at 25 mph you should always think of safety when racing especially when it could kill you)  a dnf is ok when you can come back next week and finish

Driveline / mtd mower's
« on: December 04, 2006, 01:46:04 am »
George i see you afre running an MTD style mower i have several of these and wish to build racers out of them ..... I only race here in Louisiana and we lower them to the ground and make them 40 inches wide for all classes seems to make them safer from rollover i woul like to know how you got yours so low ?

I have several AYP models (Craftmans) and they were easy to do but have had trouble with mtd's

It all depends on what you are going to do with your mower i have two just like it and i lowerd then to two inches from the ground used the stock pulley on motor and put two inch pulley on tranny runs about 60 with 14.5 on methanal gas mix cut donuts in yard all day in fourth gear there is no limitations just have to play around and see what you like
