I have an internally standard 49 Briggs V-Twin with a billet flywheel, I  have fitted the billet aluminium adapter to the Nikki carb with an after market air cleaner (as from EC Carbs). Wondering if someone could give me some idea of what size the main jets might need to be drilled to. Standard they seem to be 1.3mm. I have tried 1.8mm and 2mm but off the line (standing start) the engine bogs and won't pull hard. Any helpful info will be appreciated.

I'd solder up jets, to original size and open up lowside just a touch to get better throttle response, keep an eye on plug readings, if to lean open mains up just a thousandth or 2 and go run it.

Mine is splined different than all the others I've seen. Can someone explain? I posted a Link. I think it worked.

36 spline like the one you have is the most popular transmission.EC sells some nice 36 spline quick change hubs and spockets for them

Maybe do a port and polish on the heads, and put copper head gaskets for a little compression, and might not need retard or might just need 1 tooth

Probably too rich. Now that the deed is done, I would say to try and retard the cam timing a tooth or 2. Should stay same on bottom, and may give slightly better mid range.

Drag Mowers / Vari-drive
« Last post by Amorse69 on Yesterday at 10:16:10 AM »
Anyone tried running a vari-drive for drags?  I know the track guys hate em due to belt wear and dust & dirt issues, but those aren't as much issues 200 ft at a time.  maybe better on transaxle/shift keys when you drop the clutch?  Just wondering, thanks!

THAT IS JUST A FINE SPLINE SHAFT IS ALL IT IS. YOU CAN STILL GET THE HUBS FOR THE FINE SPLINES. IF THE SPLINES WORRY YOU, IF YOU WANT TO TAKE THE TIME TO FIND THE SHAFT WITH OTHER SPLINES YOU CAN AND JUST REPLACE THEM WITH EACH OTHER.
