Thanks. Its not a tilt wheel but it does have a quick disconnect on it, very handy for quick dismounts  ;)... and filling the tank. And yup, you spotted a 40ci Intek stuffed in there. I race out in Oregon, this doesnt really fit in a class anymore since they changed the rules (its pretty much a hybrid between a pro-x and super mod) but im gathering parts for a super mod that will have a few tricks

yup that was me. That was its first race, it did pretty good other than the tricky track conditions, but it was a fun weekend, looking forward to coming up again this year

heres a few more,

close up of the quick disconnect steering, not only is the steering wheel removable, but in a matter of seconds so is the throttle cable, so the wheel can be completely removed

its based off of it, but its a custom chassis, 4" longer than the original and a lot stronger. hood, deck, and seat are all from the original mower

as far as pics, there's a few secrets I'm not yet ready to give up lol. I'll try and find a few more good ones tho. I'm planning on making the All American this year, but I'll have to wait and see how my school schedule works out and how fuel prices are, Tennessee is a bit of a drive from Oregon.

The gear ratio is 4.91 I think. It has a Noram Star clutch and RAGB. My rear sprocket is interchangeable, i have 32, 34, 36, 38, and 40 tooth sprockets.

hears a good way to make your own cheap split sprockets... and they work good.
get a hub from BMI:    http://www.bmikarts.com/item/Hub-with-3-1-8-Bolt-Pattern-6500
Sprockets from Surplus center: http://www.surpluscenter.com/sort.asp?search=WELD40&catname=powerTrans&PAGELEN=20&PageNo=3

sprocket center is perfect size to center on hub, transfer holes to the sprockets and cut em in half. Not the lightest sprockets but very cheap and affective.

lower end of my steering... my solution to getting around the motor
(http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m108/flyinmonkeys32/th_steeringshaft.jpg) (http://s102.photobucket.com/albums/m108/flyinmonkeys32/?action=view&current=steeringshaft.jpg)

intake and exhaust

finished intake with custom adapter to go from 32mm 1 inch
(http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m108/flyinmonkeys32/th_Carbsetup.jpg) (http://s102.photobucket.com/albums/m108/flyinmonkeys32/?action=view&current=Carbsetup.jpg)

throttle linkage, setup, had to improvise and make some clevis's to fit the cables
(http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m108/flyinmonkeys32/th_throttle19.jpg) (http://s102.photobucket.com/albums/m108/flyinmonkeys32/?action=view&current=throttle19.jpg)

heres a good pic of the adapter, you can see the taper machined in, it is actually 3 pieces welded together
(http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m108/flyinmonkeys32/th_throttle12.jpg) (http://s102.photobucket.com/albums/m108/flyinmonkeys32/?action=view&current=throttle12.jpg)

Here is my brake lever setup, had to get clever to fit in such a tight space

thanks, my neighbor has a machine shop, comes in quite handy lol

All the video I have is from testing in which I was not wearing long sleeves, so I cant post them, but next time we race Ill get some video.

thats one heck of a steering setup
it took a while to perfect it but it turned out a lot better that I originally thought, it uses 15 heim joints

I'm just curious. When you use a steering set-up like that as opposed to say direct steering, what kind of dead play do you have? Dead play is kind of an odd term meaning how much does the steering wheel travel from side to side before it actually moves the wheels. Some call it slop, etc...

As far as I know the All American will be in Al this year?

No problem Bob, we will keep some room on the trailer for you. And yup, Kerry Evans told me last weekend that it will be in Alabama this year. I don't know if we will actually make it this year since Im still in college but hopefully in year or 2 we will make it out.

As far as "dead play" there is very little, maybe a inch at the most, its completely unnoticeable when moving.

An inch..? That's actually quite a bit...

Squidd I would agree. While I'm not cutting down anybody, my mower has a 14 inch wheel and with the quick connect hub and the rest of my steering setup, my wheel has about 1/4 inch of back and forth play. It SEEMS like a lot settin on the shop floor. On the track I definately want it to be a little tighter.

I guess I should have actually gone out and measured it first lol. Im running a 12" wheel and the actual dead play is less than 1/8". like you said, it seems like a lot just sitting there but when I actually measured it, its way less than I thought.

I made a small adjustment the other day and got it to less than 1/16", and its all in the u-joint I used. I did notice that the rod I have running down the frame twists a tiny amount at full lock when you really reef on it, so if any one were to emulate the concept I'd recommend using 5/8" shaft instead of 1/2".
