Thanks,  is that what most guys race in, 3rd, with the 700's??  I haven't messed with the 700 at all, correct me if I'm wrong, it's a 5 speed isn't?  The old man got one at a auction for me the other weekend along with a older MTD chassis.  This is probly a dumb question but why do you race in 3rd and not 5th?

Thanks, Yeah I know that I'm not going to build a perfect setup on paper, Just throwing ideas out there.  I haven't been able to work on any projects since OCTOBER 1st, 2005! I am just getting anxious too I guess.

Driveline / Rpms and gears ??? S/P class
« on: April 30, 2007, 07:42:59 am »
Hello,

I am planning out everything for a S/P Mowchine, So when I am home I have a headstart.

I am going to run a 28 cid briggs, haven't decided if I am going to have Don build a complete engine yet or just order the parts and put one together myself.  What is a good RPM range for these engines?  I ordered a tach the other morning, Digitron I think is what it was called, It is the one Cycloneracer uses and promotes as the tach of choice.  I also have a 700 tranny sitting in the garage, that will be rebuilt.  I am thinking of starting with a 6 inch front and 2 1/2 inch on the 700, will that work???.  As for gears I don't know where to start, since I can't play hands on yet, but I've been reading that alot of guys are running 12's 13's or 14's on the tranny.  On the rear thinking around a 40 or so, Going off what I have read on here.  It will be easier to figure out when I am home and can do some actual tests.  I am just trying to get a ideal range of everything.

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks,

Briggs Flathead / S/P engine of choice???

Hello,

I was just reading the USLMRA rules, they don't state a maximum engine size for the S/P class.  Would a 28ci 12hp be a competitive engine?  Or is there a better engine of choice?

Thanks,
