Coffee Shop / Buyer beware!
« on: February 17, 2015, 09:52:06 am »
I've been into mower racing about 6 or 7 years now, and have built several mowers for myself and others. I don't have a machine shop, or the knowledge to use one, so when I need the latest and greatest speed parts I buy them. One thing that I've found is there is not too many places you can buy them from, and some of them are flakes!. Some of the parts suppliers don't take anything but full payment up front (no credit cards or paypal, leaving you no recourse if something goes wrong). When you order parts from them, and are promised they will ship by a specific date, and it doesn't happen- then they can't be reached by phone, email, or carrier pigeon, there is nothing you can do. If these guys were in any other business they would have dried up and gone away a long time ago. This is not to say there not some good suppliers. Some answer their phones, take credit cards and paypal, and do what they say they will. The flakey ones, for some reason, still have supporters and defenders who will tell you the flake is busy, or doesn't feel well, or moving, or........  If you are going to order parts, do a little research, and try to order from someone who runs their business like a business. If you see post after post of people trying to get in touch with a supplier (anyone know why so in so isn't answering the phone-I've trying for weeks to get ahold of him) go some where else. The best part or hottest motor, in the world won't do you any good if you can't get it.

Coffee Shop / The most money I ever made with a mower
« on: November 27, 2013, 09:03:37 pm »
Earlier this summer I rented out 2 mowers to a production company for filming an episode of STORAGE HUNTERS, which is a really bad show on the TRU network. They picked up the mowers, and a day later I went to the shoot and got them back. This is one of those auction shows, and they wanted to "find" a couple of racing mowers in a storage container. If your interested it's supposed to be on Tues Dec 3rd. It's a crappy show, but it paid really good.

Tecumseh Engines / ARC Flywheel
« on: April 12, 2012, 09:35:31 pm »
So we got a new flywheel for a TVT 691- apparently you have to use Briggs mag/coils-(wish I would have known) The question is -do I have to use the Briggs diode wire as well. Hooked up the Tecumseh wire to the briggs coils, and it won't shut off with the kill switch.

Coffee Shop / Photobucket Help
« on: October 26, 2011, 08:20:36 am »
All the pictures I view on Photobucket are coming up very small- about 1 1/2" square- not much bigger than the thumbnail. Is there a setting I need to change? Thanks

Briggs OHV & Vanguard / Intek runs with no air
« on: August 17, 2011, 05:41:24 pm »
While chasing an apparent dioed problem on my 44 v twin ( the motor does not stop with the kill switch pulled), I put my hand over the carburator and the motor continues to run. What the heck? The intake is not leaking, the engine is running ok except high rpm, when it acts like it's on a governor- the rpms go up and down, with the  throttle held steady. Any guesses?

Coffee Shop / Can't use ARC wheel!
« on: January 14, 2011, 10:17:03 am »
Just got a new 6611 Flywheel for my Vanguard. This admittedly is the first time I have ever held a new one in my hands. I have glanced at them, installed on different motors, but never had a brand new on in my hands.

I CAN'T USE IT!

It's too pretty. This is an absolute work of art! I have bought Christmas presents for my wife that didn't look this good. It needs to be put on a chain and worn around the neck. It is an absolute thing of beauty. If I put it on my mower, it will have to be cleaned, and polished after every race. Possibly after every lap. It looks like something that was made for an East L.A. lowrider. Under certain light, I have to have sunglasses to look at it.

Come on ARC! Make me something I can install, tune with a hammer, and forget!

Oh yea- thank you for a great part, at a great price!
