Title: winged outlaw kart conversion
Post by: racer17j on January 21, 2012, 12:39:50 am
just finished the cage on my first outlaw conversion. for those that have never seen these you put recievers on the nerf bar mounts and rear frame rails to mount a spring loaded cage to keep the chassis from binding

nope just a box stock  6.5 clone makes around 10 hp. this one is my boys. i'll be doing mine next which will have a bp class 6.5 be around 15 hp  we get to about 65 mph on a 1/5 mile. the big dogs run 500cc 2 stroke dirt bike motors and run about 80 they can hit 100 on a bigger track. more hp/weight ratio then a 410 sprinter. they are some bad machines but 3500-4000 for a motor is a little rich for my blood to run for 50 bucks lol

we have talked about it. biggest problem is they have to be custom because the nerf bar mounts and chassis widths are all different on most chassis, want to do a few more to get the bugs worked out before we do that. was think'n around 150 bucks for the diy kit with the recievers, springs and rear bumper. and 200 for complete epoxy painted chassis.  here is the one we bought and based our design on. this one was built for kids so we are making them a little more adult freindly

by chassis i mean the cage you would still need a kart chassis to put it on  but really you could get any old chassis to put it on . qrc is the most popular factory builder and their main chassis is based off a 80's emmick chassis still using it today. i actully just sold the black one turn key for 1000. thats one thing i love about these you don't have to play the chassis of the month game like most karting can be.

I know what you meant I have two chassis one I gotta still pick up another out in the shop. No clue on what type both old. with measurements given with pictures as referance could you make one even If I had to tweak a bit thats cool too. I like the idea of a new type of toy.

LOL!! Oh G you know I'm just giving ya a hard time!! LOL!! All in fun....throw an Indian in one of these and I'm sure Bert would let ya run it against us. At your age it's best to start thinking about something with a cage and 5 pt. harness anyways. All about Safety ya know  ;)

what size tires and rims are you running on the rear of this machine? I wish they let you run staggered setup in the racing mower top classes. i recon it would be cool if they did.
cheers mate snyds

We have a kart track north of are mower track that we race there once and awhile. Vestaburg mi where they are holding national mower race. They have 3 or 4 outlaw karts. 1 is 250r Honda and others are 450 Hondas. 450s beat the 250 now.

I recon she'd be a wild n top setup if you ran a 600cc ninja engine or CBR600/R6/GSXR600 in it. It would be a close runner with a Sprint car ay..
Big dollars but lots a fun
