Briggs OHV & Vanguard / GP fell flat on its face!
« on: June 21, 2020, 02:23:06 pm »
So at the race this weekend, went thru tech with my GP, everything went perfect as planned. Tach checked at 3540 where I had it set at. Got out on to the track and it was wet, ran really poorly, so I went down gears. Second heat race ran equally as poorly. I was able to watch my tach the entire race, 2950. Got back to the pits, put the clutch in grabbed a handful of throttle, 3540!!! What could cause the mower to bog down so much??? I never once got close to running a governed speed, but it rolled around like I was just out on a Sunday stroll thru the park! Any ideas much welcomed!

Briggs OHV & Vanguard / Briggs 31 ohv compression
« on: November 04, 2017, 09:29:29 am »
Looking to help bump my compression up a little bit, trying to squeeze every ounce of power out of my engine that is allowed by our rules ( stock crank, cam, valves, no billet this or that ect ect it’s all stock).
Now I’ve read on here about swapping heads to help raise compression. Problem is, I’ve read to use a stock 28 head, I’ve also read use a 33 head.
I’m looking for some input. Is one really better than the other? Which will give the most benefit over the other?

Briggs OHV & Vanguard / Briggs 31 Non Avs VS Avs Pistons
« on: July 02, 2017, 11:28:10 am »
I'm trying to find a piston for a Briggs 31 non avs, pn 692273. It has been right next to impossible to find it, and was told by Briggs that its obsolete and no longer available.
Question is, can i put in a piston from an avs engine, pn 796173??
They have the same bore, only difference i can find is the avs/non avs
